People see children as their safety net in old age, so the more the better, just in case.

If the country had a proper social security mechanism to care for old people, then people would produce fewer children.

Yes thanks to their food imports. You seriously think you can bring a population to anything close to a hundred million in a desert environment like the Arabian peninsula? It's biologically impossible:

Saudi exports a lot of food as well very few countries are completely food secure

they have good job tera forming the land for farm use with modern farming tech like circular irrigation and desalination however these things are expensive and very water intensive especially the later so I dont know if they are sustainable though

Thanks to their oil exports, they've got money to buy more food than they need, which in turn means more population growth.

Historically their land has been to dry to produce so much food which in turn means small population. Why do you think Balochistan has had such a small population? Their desert climate cannot support a huge population unlike fertilized Punjab.

It is biologically impossible for any species to grow to an enormous amount without having a preceding food supply.

Basically, around the 1970s, ZAB's "nationalization" and "socialist" schemes helped a lot of people get jobs and money they weren't qualified for (nor did they deserve). As a result, money came easy to a lot of people, and very quickly. Obviously, that subsidized way of life came at the cost of both a bigger population and continuous fiscal debt. IMO, when people have to actually work for a living, they won't have as many wives or kids.
