With American support, it may be possible for Pakistan to get IMF loans without reverting the fuel subsidy. If Bilawal can pull this rabbit out of his hat, then he would save the Shahbaz administration. IMF money will help currency stabilize
PPP wants PMLN to fail. For PPP this is an opportunity to get some support in Punjab at the expense of PMLN's failures.

It will only increase external debt burden and thus more unmanageable external debt repayments in future

PTI is a common enemy for PPP and PLMN. There is no bigger uniting force in the world than a common enemy. It will bring adversaries together. Imran Khan has 2 more elections left. After Imran, there is likely no successor in PTI. The PDM will just have to ride Imran out and they are back to greener pastures. In later part of this decade, I expect the great war between Maryam and Bilawal to begin. But until then, this marriage of convenience will continue :pop:

Hours after Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari arrived in New York on Tuesday for a series of meetings with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, a State Department spokesperson assured Pakistan of strong US support for their efforts to rebuild the Pakistani economy. The United States “will continue to work bilaterally on ways to grow investment and trade opportunities to build a prosperous and stable Pakistan,” the spokesperson told Dawn in Washington. The United States also “welcomes the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) deliberations with Pakistan,” the spokesperson added. Also, IMF sources in Washington confirmed that Pakistan and the IMF would start their review talks in Doha on Wednesday (today) to strike a staff-level agreement for the release of a $1 billion tranche under an Extended Fund Facility (EFF).The week-long review will be an opportunity for Pakistan to convince the IMF to revive a stalled $6bn package for stabilising its cash-starved economy.

It's like offering aid to Japan or Vietnam after bombing those countries to stone age...
😡😡😡

You see that explains a lot,
Fact of the matter is that world trade is settled in dollars.
and the US manages the flow of dollars to any one country carefully, to ensure that they don't get any bright ideas,
US had successfully strangled the flow of dollars to Pakistan over the last 4-5 years.

Now that they have a friendly government which "they" have helped bring in, they will ease out the flow of dollars.
Mind you these dollars come with conditions such as, they won't end up anywhere other than US pockets.
So, we give you money, that you use only to buy stuff off of us. and no one else, AND you pay us interest on top.

This has been the loop we are in since 1990.

Yes, it will increase debt and I don't believe that this is the best way for Pakistan to resolve immediate crisis. But politicians are always motivated to keep their administration electable. Imran started this untenable subsidy to stay in power without regarding Pakistan's interest over his own political goals. Now PDM will do the same if given the opportunity.

However, countries take external debt with the hope that future growth will give them the capacity to pay debt owed. So let's see how chips fall :undecided:

What regime change operation is this? Pakistan's internal democratic processes removed a broken coalition government by due process of law.
Obviously you didn't read threatening letter from US to make this NCM vote successful or face the consequences

Chips fall just like they are doing in Sri Lanka today, Indian Patwari

How? There are no international banking sanctions on Pakistan. China could have given Pakistan $ without interest anytime. US cannot stop this. Pakistan could have also managed to export more to China if the Chinese gave Pakistan exclusive access to their markets. US cannot stop this as well. US did not stop Imran from getting IMF loans, did it? US has no obligation to help Imran when he bashed America to capture domestic power. I think the blame is unsubstantiated :what:
