A high-level delegation of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) had arrived in Pakistan earlier this month to support the country’s digital transformation.
The delegation is led by Tariq Malik, Chief Technical Advisor to UNDP on Digital Governance and former Chairman of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

According to details, Tariq Malik and the UNDP mission will formally begin the tour after the end of their mandatory two-week quarantine on 20 November.
The former NADRA Chairman will hold both virtual and in-person meetings with the representatives of different UN agencies and development partners.
He will also call upon ministers and federal secretaries to apprise them about digital interventions for improving governance.

In this regard, the Economic Affairs Division has already issued an official memorandum to all ministries, divisions, and departments, directing them to arrange meetings with the Tariq Malik-led UNDP mission.

The UNDP mission is expected to discuss Digital Pakistan Policy with the IT Ministry, an e-payment system with the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, the role of digital technology in COVID-19 response with the National Health Services Ministry, and gender gap and statistics of registration of vulnerable population with NADRA Chairman.
