Purity refers to the fact that Article 370 prohibits any outsider to reside permanently or purchase property in J & K . thereby preventing colonization of J & K by outsider ( read as non muslim population ) . thereby maintaining Muslim majority nature of the state . The premise which was the basis why Pakistan wanted to lay claim to J & K .

Colonisation of J & K also runs risk of diluting population with Anti India forces in Kashmir .

Even today there are sizeable number of people in J & K who are opposed to Indian rule ..although they may not be directly pro Pakistani .

so article 370 works against any such cultural , ethnical engineering of J & K that could have been done by promoting immigration of other people from rest of the India ....that's the purity he is talking about !
No where all secularist gone on article 370 ........ well muslims maintained their majority by forcing hindu out , they don't care about minority in j&K while secularist keep quite in that and want to keep everything for muslims in other parts of india.nice move by BJP , now let see how secularist reacts

Let device J&K in 3 states , Leh, Jammu and kashmir and let 370 be in kashmir only.

The same goes for those stuck in Pakistani owned Kashmir. And don't forget Aksai Chin. If ppl really cared about their independence, then they would make a stink about that. But they don't. J& K will forever remain a part of India. If anybody doesn't like it, they can leave. This article 370 is going to be repealed. Its an injustice to all Indians.

Article 370 is revokable by an act of Parliament. Modi has the numbers with Amma and Patnaik. Period!

What it will cause - Massive celebrations in Jammu and Ladakh and mayhem in Kashmir. The second part is the one that has to be managed humanly... The only question then is, if the Govt. of India will to spend the time and effort it takes to convince the people of Kashmir that this article really has brought them nothing, except that hallucination of a special status - which eventually has cut them off from the rest of the country and made them dependent on subsidies and pushed them to surrender to the whims and fancies of separatist and AFSPA!

The question is only time and only Kashmir province... The other 2 provinces are pretty clear about it!

No. ARTICLE 370 has to go.

And it will be done. Maybe not now but it will. If it means forcing it down, it will be done. Enough is enough.

Secular terrorism cannot be our captor for development, integration and progress of all regions of India.

AFSPA is a state of emergency and Abdullahs and Muftis are simply idiots who think they are some overlords.

Just half a century ago, their ancestors were cleaning the darbar of king Hari Singh.
Lest they forget that

How will people in Nagaland react to this? I hear they are opposed to it in a big way.

The crux of the issue is that once Article 370 is abrogated, the state will cease to get the whopping Rs 50,000 crores or thereabouts every year as aid, doles, handouts and subsidies to the Kashmiris. That's more that 12 times what Bengal gets per annum!!

And then what would happen to the 'poor' politicians of Kashmir who would be left out in the cold without the massive amount of corruption with hundreds of crores going into their pockets?

All this talk by Omar and Co that abrogation of the article would amount to Kashmir separating from India is pure bullshit!

It's the money that makes the mare go. Nothing else matters. Period!

Nagaland? Why will they oppose? Nephiu Rio the leader of NE faction and CM of Nagaland has already brought entire Northeast together to support NDA efforts in integrating the region with rest of India for development and peace.

Nagas are fiercely independent people but it is not like every state is bowing down to emperor Modi in Delhi.

Everyone wants and has freedom.

Even many civilian Nagas are fed up of years of chaos in the state. NaMo isn't the types that appreciates threats of separatism.

Dude, NE wants development as a whole and not just for some imaginary freedom that the stupid NSCN and NSCM are proposing under their tyranny.

People thought these people stood for truth until there was no media around. But they are now another band of Maoists funded by the bible belt of US.

NEW DELHI: Article 370 of the Indian Constitution is a 'temporary provision' which grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. Under Part XXI of the Constitution of India, which deals with "Temporary, Transitional and Special provisions", the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been accorded special status under Article 370.

All the provisions of the Constitution which are applicable to other states are not applicable to J&K. For example, till 1965, J&K had a Sadr-e-Riyasat for governor and Prime Minister in place of chief minister.

The provision was drafted in 1947 by Sheikh Abdullah, who had by then been appointed Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir by Maharaja Hari Singh and Jawahar Lal Nehru. Sheikh Abdullah had argued that Article 370 should not be placed under temporary provisions of the Constitution. He wanted 'iron clad autonomy' for the state, which Centre didn't comply with.

According to this Article, except for defence, foreign affairs, finance and communications, the Parliament needs the state government's concurrence for applying all other laws. Thus the state's residents live under a separate set of laws, including those related to citizenship, ownership of property, and fundamental rights, as compared to other Indians. As a result of this provision, Indian citizens from other states can not purchase land or property in Jammu & Kashmir.

Under Article 370, the Centre has no power to declare financial emergency under Article 360 in the state. It can declare emergency in the state only in case of war or external aggression. The Union government can therefore not declare emergency on grounds of internal disturbance or imminent danger unless it is made at the request or with the concurrence of the state government.

By far, the most debated and discussed article in the entire Constitution, Modi's suggestion on a debate on the abrogation of Article 370, has once again brought this provision in the limelight.

What is Article 370? - The Times of India

The article gives autonomy status which enforces the constitution of Kashmir in the state and does not allow
selling of land to non Kashmiris. As Indian are treated as foreigners in that region due to the laws of constitution of Kashmir.
