Hyped acts performed underwhelmingly in this olympics-US gymnastic team,US swimming team,Chinese Diving /table tennis /CHINEse volleyball/Nadeshiko Japan etc; anything can happen in this Olympics. In the post Bolt/Phelps era , Sun Yang was like the only athlete guaranteeing multiple gold medals;and the west managed to successfully devise a plot to ban him for this Olympics ,without any evidence of doping against him.

The US swimming team has not underperformed. It’s important to note that over 60% of the US swim team are Olympic rookies.

The definition of family between Eastern Culture and Western Culture is different.
You'll not understand
I need to admit, You have a very narrow minded.
You took the opportunity to tag me on this thread to brandish Chinese achievements in my face.
Have you even once celebrated an Indonesian or Eastern non Chinese achievement on PDF? I rest my case.

Next time celebrate Indonesian athletes as well and don't get cocky on the first day of the olympics - wait for it to end.

Despite the dismal USA basketball team and the lax effort they've exhibited, it will be EXTREMELY difficult for any other country to beat the US in Gold metal counts as well as silver and just overall medals in general. The US is just too dominating because of too many factors,

US men basketball will have strong competitor from Nigeria who beat them some weeks ago and of course European team like Serbia, France, and other....

But for women, USA team is still unbeatable for both 5x5 and 3x3 competition

Hei, how about Indonesian player, Ayu (22 years old)- number 9 , do you think she can play as guard in WNBA ? She can trick 2 WNBA player and also beat Plum in at least one occasion

who am I? I am someone who highlight the fact that you haven't celebrated an Indonesian accomplishments on PDF.Despite being a son of Indonesian soil...while reaching orgasmic bliss at Chinese accomplishments. All evidenced by your posting history on PDF.

Who am I? Just an observer ..making an observation. :enjoy:

Based off US track and field trials, the US athletics team is ridiculously good. Their going to rack up a ton of medals.

Look like it is very upsetting for Indian fans to not have Sindhu compete in Tokyo Olympic, even Myanmar women single can compete in Olympic despite she was lost from Indonesian single, Gregoria
Indians have super high expectations for this particular Olympic Games, but their predicted golds fell into China's bag yesterday.

India predicted to have bumper harvest in Tokyo – 17 medals including four gold
According to Gracenote's statistical data, India is set to win eight medals in shooting, four in boxing, three in wrestling and one each in archery and weightlifting in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

India’s projected medallists
Gold: Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat (both wrestling), Elavenil Valarivan and 10m air pistol mixed team (both shooting)

Silver: Amit Panghal (boxing), Saurabh Chaudhary, Manu Bhaker and 10m air rifle mixed team (shooting), Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting)

Bronze: Archery (recurve men’s team), MC Mary Kom, Manish Kaushik, Lovlina Borgohain (all boxing), Yashaswini Deswal, Divyansh Panwar (both shooting), Deepak Punia (wrestling), and Chinki Yadav* (*was not included in the shooting team)

If the Tokyo Olympics were held right now, India would equal its combined tally of the last 12 Games to win 17 medals, including four gold. The projection was made by Olympic analysts Gracenote on Wednesday to mark the 100-days-to-go countdown for the postponed Olympics, which are scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8.

Gracenote, who provide statistical data for major tournaments across sports, said as per their model, India will win eight medals in shooting, four in boxing, three in wrestling and one each in archery and weightlifting. The total tally is projected to be four gold medals, five silver and eight bronze.

“There is greater uncertainty than we would usually expect for these Olympics and it is important to emphasise this,” Simon Gleave, the head of sports analysis at Gracenote, said.

So far, 90 Indian athletes have qualified for the Olympics. Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra said on Wednesday that they expect a total of 120-130 sportspersons to make the cut by the time the qualification period ends in June.

The Virtual Medal Table is prepared based on results in previous Olympics, World Championships and World Cups. Gleave said their model ‘includes a time factor so events from long ago have less importance than recent ones.’

“A 2019 World Championship will therefore have less weight than it would have had the Olympics been held as scheduled,” he said. “As this is built on sports results data, there is little that we can do about the lack of events in some sports over the past year although around half of the sports have had something.”

Gracenote’s prediction for the top three countries on the Rio Olympics medal table turned out to be true, according to the Associated Press, and they even picked eight of the top 10 medal winners. The agency also noted that for the 2018 Winter Olympics, Gracenote’s projections for ‘seven of the top 10 countries were within one or two medals of their final totals’.

In a pre-pandemic prediction for the Tokyo Games, made in 2019, Gracenote – a Neilson company – had said India would win three fewer gold medals, even as the forecast for the silver and bronze medals remained the same.

I noticed that. 4x200 free final were names I had not heard of. Glad UK won the gold medal, but a bit different to see USA lose the 4x200 free relay. That is an event they normally win. And I was expecting them to somehow muster a bronze but they lost the race entirely.
