It's so damn typical.
For India: it's elites play aggressive and wannabe a great power without knowing the limit of own capabilities, and yet totally not prepared for - mentally and physically - the consequences of it's aggressive behaviors.

For China: Win a war but get nothing! The stupid mentality of "face matters more than actually benefits"

I am really astonished to find such a post, and endorse it totally.

Very interesting documentary and footage from 1962 conflict.

This documentary is very fair and neutral ... definitely the best 1962 war documentary on Youtube by far. I have to admit it was very sad to see the veteran so angry/disheartened about the unilateral ceasefire after spending weeks fighting through the Bailey trail. You could really see his anger at Mao's publicity stunt ... he was so mad he even admitted if it were up to them, they would just shoot the POWs rather than give them such excellent provisions. I mean who can blame him. Having to not only give up all your hard fought gains but also treat POWs better than how you are treated in the army would be very tough for anyone.

China only retreated from Arunachal Pradesh, but kept Askai Chin. The region that has more strategic significance.

She went back to a line of her own definition. That is what became the LAC.
So before the 1962 war, India occupied parts of Aksai Chin? I'm actually quite curious because the Chinese built a highway in Aksai Chin in the 50s which laid on the eastern side of Aksai Chin.

It is surprisingly good. I was also astonished at the mature reaction of one Chinese member.

Most Chinese and their apologists' miss this point entirely in their boyish enthusiasm: it was a publicity stunt, an ego-trip by a homicidal maniac. I grew up in an era and in a place where the Great Chairman was revered, and his Little Red Book widely circulated. All Almost all those enthusiasts have become disillusioned and alienated from his ideology, and they are very quiet about the terrible things that he did to his own countrymen - and women.

His cook (on the Long March) was a far better visionary and leader. It is lucky that he survived this psychopath.

LOL.

No, India knew nothing about Aksai Chin until the chance discovery of the Xinjiang highway by a police patrol. That area was falsely included due to a terribly bad decision by an Indian leader. There were three lines that were floating around. If you are interested to know, let me know.

Yes could you post a picture of those three lines? I'm actually quite curious because I heard that India occupied western Aksai Chin prior to the war. Thank you.

There wasn’t any physical occupation by troops. India claimed that it falls under her jurisdiction. Few Indians even knew about that place . Only when the Tibet Sinkiang highway got operational did it become public. And initially Nehru tried to play it down. Afterwards India started sending regular patrols and started physical occupation only during the Forward Policy phase

Yes, she did. The lines in ten minutes; let me find a good location. Incidentally, only two of them ever occur. The third, based on the ONLY treaty between a Chinese subsidiary state and an Indian feudatory, is never shown in any map that I have seen; it dates back to 1842 or so. The other two lines, in a few minutes.

Probably most China member in PDF are favorable of Mao.
But Mao is very controversial in China as well.
There are endless online wars about it in China back to the time when I was young enough to be one of the keyboard warriors, LOL
