Though my hopes are low for even medium term changes about reducing radicalism in Pakistan, I am encouraged by an almost unanimous AND vocal condemnation in Pakistan of the tragedy of the poor Sri Lankan manager. We must understand that since Gov. Taseer was assassinated by his own bodyguard, there is self-muzzling going on in Pakistan about the fanatics of the likes of TLP. So it takes courage to say something in the public forums because that exposes those, especially living in Pakistan, to another assassin like the wretched Mumtaz Qadri. One of my favorite Pakistan bloggers is this guy and he is openly calling for the damn murderers of the the SL manager to be hanged.

These people are far from Camps, now they need firing squads and nothing less. Re-education camps don't do anything, Pakistan needs to regulate mosques, regulate Sermons, After Esha Prayers all mosques must be close, no Mullah or Imam should live inside mosque or run a madarsa, every pulpit must have close circuit camera's, and last but not the least bring all Mullah's together, whether by hook or crook make them sign a petition to re-evaluate the blasphemy laws and also bring a legislation that anyone who use/abuse any laws regarding religion will be put to death by hanging, make approval from Parliament if needs be, sack all Mullah sympathizer judges, Generals, and Politicians and put them in jails for the rest of their lives.

Circumstances are hopeless. No substantial change seems to be in offing.

Bolded part. That would be a good start and actually do-able. If not hang them at least make them pay a high price and that would be a 'just' retribution. About your other sentence of 'sack' people: Not workable. Everybody is cut from the same cloth!

Too much freedom is making Pakistanis go crazy. Everybody has stupid point of view of how country should be run. You have Mullah Zombies who want to turn this nation into chithole like Afganistan, liberals who want to implement western system not knowing the situation does not apply to Pakistani culture, and then those people who still think all is well in Pakistan bus democracy ko 10 saal or doo phir sab kuch theek ho jai ga.. thats all bs to me.
If you want to talk about Ataturk even though I dont agree with many of things he did but he did exactly opposite of what you mentioned on the top. Even though he did not kills much people but he forced everybody to get their act together and helped them get out of backward society.
If Pakistan in 1980s could fund 1000s of madrassas, Im pretty sure if the government had the will they could do something like this. It would be very beneficial in the long run. deradicalize the population by forcing them to attend few years in such camps.

It maybe what Ataturk did, in whole or part, doesn’t work for us (I’m still looking into it to form a better understanding), but it achieve getting Turkey going again. I might be wrong, I’m gonna look into what he did today and try to form a more informed opinion. I’m also gonna look into the Islamic golden age and what factors led to that.

I don’t think camps will work, and also it would cause a backlash, so some kind of mass re-education from the top down, through media and other means will have to be done. A lot of what has developed has been as a way to compensate for the breakdown of government services. We get the government services working properly and well funded, people won’t have to go to alternatives. Until then, remember, these schools for example also provide the food many kids depend on to live and it maybe their only way to learn to read and get a break from a life of manual labor from a young age. Take that away with providing an equal or better alternative and you could have millions of youngsters ripe to be utilized against the government reforms.

Hang 30 to 50 ppl of that mob publicly and it wont happen again. Reward and punishment is the only way to control society.
Why you think the stupid drivers in Pakistan suddenly becomes good law abiding drivers in ME and west? Its because in those countries u get punished for breaking the laws and u cannot get away with it. While in Pakistan u can do anything on the road and nothing happens. This stupid govt have no writ and powerful are never punished. Funny how imran khan used to say same things but now he himself has become part of the same rotten system.

People in the west still have that mindset, but they know to shut up because the rest of the Pakistani expat community and the government will come after them if they start to openly air their views.

In Pakistan though you can do whatever you want in the name of Islam and get away with it, just look at how many people call for the genocide of Ahmadis or invoke the name of allah before commiting vile actions with no consequences.

Another great video by this guy Makhdoom Shahabuddin! He must be aware of the dangers he is putting himself into but he is still taunting the cowards who killed the poor Sri Lankan guy, telling them even death by hanging is coming for them. He is asking that police be given the authority to even take out 200 of the mob animals to save one innocent life. Oh, one of the attackers hid in his sister's house and when the cops reached that house, he tried to sneak out in a Burqah!! Reminds you of someone else!

I believe a turning point is coming up in Pakistan at least about the Blasphemy Law. There is a lot anger and there is also a lot determination and consensus to deal with these Haraamkhors!

I believe a turning point is coming up in Pakistan at least about the Blasphemy Law.

Turning point is coming with strict ban on hate speech by Sectarian Mullahs ... and they are of every Sect. This is not going to be easy for the state as this hate fuels the donations at their respective mosques. First port of call should be country wide ban of all books written by the so-called ulema of these sects, as majority of these books contain Kafir and Murtad fatwas for others. This ban will be the ultimate turning point.

Public hanging of the killers would be an ideal start. Qisas - as instructed by The Almighty.

Declare war on the militants, you are either with us or against us and fight it out all the way to the epicenter Kunar and Nuristan. There will be mutiny in the ranks and traitors, crush them all and purify your nation.

Real issue isn’t Mullahs or madressas.
Real issue is unemployment, lack of education, lack of schools, no Justice and our establishment using these madressas for their work.
Many people send their kids to madressas because government hasn’t built schools for their children and even if they have the families can’t afford to send their kids to those schools. Madressas offer a family which struggles with poverty a place where they can send their kids and get education. Unemployment and no job opportunities leads to these people have nothing to do and that’s where they can easily be brainwashed and used by others. Our let’s not ignore our establishment which supports many of these madressas and uses those madressa students to fight their wars. Justice system in Pakistan is a fail too which leads to this. Had we had clear laws and good Justice system people wouldn’t be mob lynching and would rather put their trust into the Justice system. Just yesterday a innocent young man from waziristan was shot dead by sindh police. No Justice for him yet. You think his family will set by and not do anything while they don’t get Justice. This is how extremism starts people seeking Justice will be brainwashed by extremists groups and eventually become terrorists.

Putting Mullahs or madressas students in concentration camps won’t solve anything they’ll just end up as a liberal terrorist group. As long as unemployment, lack of Justice, lack of education, poverty, lack of schools and, our establishments dirty games are around extremism and terrorism won’t ever end.
Even firing squads won’t do anything it’ll just invite people from all over the world to fight you and call you out for human rights abuses abs sanction you.

It’s easy to put the blame all on madressas and Mullahs but we’re ignoring the real issue here

What lead to people joining ttp?
It took us 70 years just to remove British made laws for tribal areas and integrate them into kpk. Colleges and universities in tribal areas still get very little or no budget. Even know kpk government ignores tribal areas no development there nothing is being built there. What’s the unemployment like in tribal areas? There’s no places for those people to work no job opportunities or anything.
If you want a permanent solution you tackle the root of the problem!
