China Researches Armed Mountain Quadruped Robot: Capable of Carrying 30 mm Cannon to Climb Mountain For Combat

Mountain combat is a dread for all countries, with science fiction big dog (quadruped robot) may be the solution, China also has a number of teams in the development of Quadruped Robot ,and a recently disclosed paper Shows that this kind of Quadruped Robot will be equipped with small-caliber cannons and become combat robots, becoming a weapon in the mountain battle. A recent paper circulated on the military network shows that Nanjing Institute of Technology is studying this issue. South Polytechnic is also one of the "creative factories" of the Chinese army's weapons. The article, "Analysis of the stability of a walking small-caliber mountain artillery shooting" shows that this artillery is "walking no-one small-caliber mountain artillery" with a caliber of 30mm. The artillery is made up of a walking machine and a gantry. "The firing state Walking down to the full ground," its high and low firing angle, especially negative shooting angle is larger than the conventional artillery.

From this description, this artillery should be mounted on a walking robot body 30mm gun. Among the rugged mountains, infantry can only carry limited light weapons, tank armored vehicles can not enter the traditional artillery can not enter, and if the enemy can hiding in the backcourt if the enemy, the self-defense fight back in the 1980s, I In the war on mountain prefectures prefer to use 14.5mm anti-aircraft gun, in response to the plateau mountain combat, 2000 also developed a 02 14.5mm heavy machine gun, called the new era plateau "infantry artillery."

The soldiers' load-bearing capacity is very limited. The limited storming weapons are mainly rocket launchers and light anti-tank missiles. Although its caliber is only 30mm, the small-caliber mountain artillery can provide very fierce continuous firepower and can provide some carrying capacity. Once developed, as the paper states: "It will be the first choice for the implementation of high-risk military tasks with a substantial reduction Our Army casualties.

In fact, China has long been involved in the development of this artillery-critical quadruped robotics technology and many teams have demonstrated their samples. In July 2015, at the Achievements Exhibition of the National Defense Science and Technology Industrial and Military Integration and Development, China North Industries Group Corporation presented a bionic quadruped robot with "China Big Dogs". With a total weight of 250 kg and a carrying capacity of 160 kg, the robot has a vertical barrier capability of 20 cm and a climbing angle of 30 degrees with a maximum speed of 1.4 m / s and an endurance of 2 hours, equivalent to an endurance of over 10 km.

This robot is mainly composed of a foot type mechanical system, a power unit, a perception system, and a control system. As a common platform, it can be applied to the material handling of complicated and rugged pavements such as the operations and disasters of the army team, battlefield reconnaissance, mine transportation and geological exploration. This Quadruped Robot developed by China itself has reached the level of the United States.

Nonsense, even American guns are more like China's PLZ-45!

    https://www.popsci.com/saudis-use-chinese-made-cannons-yemen#page-3

The Saudi Army is deploying its best cannons, the NORINCO PLZ-45 self propelled howitzer (SPH) to bombard Houthi rebels in western Yemen. This is the first time that a modern Chinese SPH has seen combat. While Saudi Arabia has bought primarily American weapons, recent advances in Chinese artillery technology has actually made Chinese artillery more capable in many respects over its American counterparts.

The PLZ-45 is a 33 ton artillery vehicle, with a 6.97 meter long cannon that fires guided and unguided 50kg 155mm shells up to 39 kilometers away (in contrast, the America M109A7 Paladin's shorter cannon has a 30km maximum range). First developed in the 1980s, the PLZ-45 did not see widespread Chinese service, though its bigger descendant, the 50km ranged PLZ-04, is in widespread PLA service. The PLZ-45 comes with an ammunition supply vehicle that carries 90 shells, as well as sophisticated counterbattery and fire control radars, in addition to forward observation scouts.

Currently, over 200 PLZ-45 SPHs have been sold by China's NORINCO weapons manufacturer to Algeria, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Especially noteworthy is that while Saudi Arabia also possesses American made M109A5 and French AMX-GCT SPHs, they have chosen more capable Chinese made artillery to take the lead in Operation Decisive Storm, the Arab intervention into Yemen. However, we should not be too surprised at the use of Chinese land weapons; as the 2014 U.S. Defense Department's China Military Power Report noted that Chinese defense contractors like NORINCO are producing world class weapons systems not just in new areas like drones, but also in traditional technology like armored vehicles.

Copying Chinese? What are you talking about? the M109 was designed back in the 1950's way before any Chinese self propelled gun.

Here's video of it in 1965

I was only pointing out that pic you posted with the caption "Artistic rendering of Small Caliber Walking Mountain Gun" is actually a pic of a Japanese Gundam robot. The exact same pic is on a Gundam wiki page.

you can see it at the 13 second mark

I'm not saying you guys are stealing the idea of armed robots from Japan. I'm saying that the specific pic posted wasn't an artist's rendering of a walking Mountain gun..it was simply something grabbed off a Gundam page...not some ultimate design.

Back on topic please...stop going off on tangents

Are you low IQ? The Japanese even copied the Chinese language. American guns do not copy from China? The world of guns copying China from the 10th century! LOW IQ.

Do you still don't think you are low IQ and nauseous?

We don't need to argue about these things again. What if Japanese learned and used Hanzi? Shouldn't it make China proud because it means that the fonts and writing spread into the world? Just like English, it spread into the world, so what? Is it bad to copying the language and writing of English people? Are they mad because of it? No, in contrary, the way Japanese copied Chinese writing is showed that they respect China culture and tradition. So please respect Ourselves by not mocking other people who learned, implemented and respected our culture and tradition.

That picture of his is just an artist impression of what China's robotic bipedal will look like in the future. But I don't think that it will use "human type" of leg. It is the knees. I think animal's legs are stronger and more capable than human. So I'm sure that they will use animal model legs than human's one.

In highland plateau, non-native humans tend to develop high altitude sickness if they are not given sufficient time to acclimatize. Also, carrying heavy loads and moving fast tend to accelerate the development of the sickness.

Thus an animal of burden like mule/ horse/ yak could be used to carry heavy equipment where there is no access to motorised vehicles. A four leg robot porter or weapon carrier would be a nice alternative to these animals that need feeding and caring. This machine is definitely good for mountainous areas in South West China.
