no can do, F-35 B emit more heat than Harrier, so Chackri need a major overhaul and be reinforced at her flight deck and the lift too is must be checked if they can accomodate F-35 or not. And personally i think, Chackri is more appropriate to be armed with ASW helicopter instead, like what she has doing today.

    Old news..

Chaiseri First Win 4x4 armoured personnel carrier excellence from Thailand Defense Industry.

From this rich wealth of experience Defense Company Chaiseri of Thailand has gained the knowledge and expertise necessary to develop its own vehicles, thus elevating the company from being a support organisation to the status of original equipment manufacturer. Known as First Win, Chaiseri's initial entry into the OEM world is a tactical 4x4 aimed at both armed forces and internal security needs.

Defense Company Chaiseri of Thailand First Win 4x4 armoured vehicle personnel carrier at Eurosatory 2014, International Defense and Security Exhibition in Paris, France.

First Win has been devised as a family of versions, offering different levels of protection and mobility to suit various customer requirements. The vehicle can be reconfigured for many different battlefield and security roles, such as ambulance, command post, reconnaissance and infantry fighting vehicle. It is easily transportable by air, sea, rail or road, and can be fitted with a variety of overhead weaponry such as 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns, and 40mm automatic grenade launcher. A variety of internal configurations can be installed, but with a single driver the First Win can carry 10 troops.

Protection for the crew and occupants is provided through an all-welded V-shaped armour steel hull, which also is the basis of the chassis-less monocoque structure. The protection not only covers the crew compartment, but also that of the engine

The highest level of protection is offered by the First Win personnel carrier with 300hp engine, which offers a high degree of resistance against mines and IED blasts. It has STANAG Level 2 protection against ballistic threats as standard, with an option to upgrade to level 3, while it has full level 3 protection against mines. This equates to protection against the equivalent of an 8-kilogram TNT blast under the belly, or 10 kilograms under the wheels.

First Win-E is a slightly smaller vehicle with a 250hp engine and independent suspension that is optimised for fast-moving reconnaissance operations. It has Level 2 mine blast protection but has reduced weight compared to the standard First Win, but with a corresponding increase in mobility. Chaiseri also offers the First Win-L, a lighter version with 200hp engine and Level 1 protection as standard, intended primarily for internal security uses where mines are not a threat.

More than 30 First Win vehicles are already in service with the Thai army and internal security agencies. Chaiseri is now offering the vehicle for export as a versatile and efficient vehicle that offers high levels of protection for its occupants, but at an affordable cost.

    Thai Black Widow Spider
black_widow_spider_afvThe Defence Technology Institute (DTI) – the Thai ministry of defence’s research and development agency – today announced that it will partner with UK automotive designer company Ricardo on the next phase of development of its Black Widow Spider 8×8 armoured vehicle programme, developed in support of the Royal Thai Army. The vehicle has been designed by DTi over the past two years and is currently undergoing advanced development in a programme led by DTi and featuring collaboration across Thailand’s land-based defence industry base.
DTI was set up to develop Thailand’s defence technology capability and to help build the local defence industry; the Black Widow Spider represents its first major military vehicle programme. Under the advanced development phase DTI and Ricardo have already completed the initial phase of technology development for the Black Widow Spider 8×8, and displayed the vehicle configuration at the recent Defence & Security 2013 exhibition hosted in Bangkok. The vehicle has been designed to provide protected firepower and extreme mobility in reconnaissance, command and control and fire support roles.

“DTI and Ricardo have agreed to work together to develop the next phase of the Black Widow Spider 8×8 project,” confirmed Colonel Tawiwat Veeraklaew, DTI’s executive director of R&D. “I am looking forward to working closely with Ricardo on this important project for Thailand’s defence industry.”

“Ricardo is proud to have been selected by DTI to partner with it on this key vehicle programme,” commented Andy North, Ricardo chief engineer, defence. “This work builds upon our extremely strong reputation for the design, development and production of class-leading, agile and highly crew-protected defence vehicles, including the Foxhound, WMIK and Vixen platforms used by British forces. We look forward to working with DTI on this important programme and helping to develop a truly world-class defence vehicle.”

^I can't say that the Thai army is a joke as they appear to have better weapons than us (Philippines) other than from having many assets and weapons.

don't listen to those chauvinist Vietcong, it seem in his eyes only Vietnam is the supa pawa and unbeatable. He is forgetting about Thailand industrial manufacturing output and capability to producing such vehicles and equipment not to mention Thailand larger economic base, weapons sources and Thailand had become US Allies for so long and so on.

in short his existence is a joke instead of the Royal Thai army

weapons do not make one to a military power. have you seen the performance of italian army during the WWII? all the weapons, all the bragging of Mussolini. the british laughed to dead when fighting against them. the germans bailed the italian weakings so many times from the battlefields.

adolf hitler was so angry. because of italy, he delayed the invasion of the USSR of many months. one of the key factors, he lost the battle of Moscow. the cold russia winter delivered a blow to the german army.

Also, if I remember it correctly, Thailand still has better performing economy despite the current issue of politics there, which is not that bad compared to the screwed-up politics here in the Philippines.

The thing is that the Italian military during WW2 are not well-equipped; from what I have read, most of the AFVs Italy had during those time were "light" in armor and armaments, and you're right about the Germans had to bail them out, until they installed Mussolini as the leader of a pro-Axis Italy when the Italian Kingdom surrendered to the Allies.

The weather was the main advantage of the Soviets during the war but also consider that Hitler was also responsible for the military disasters as it came to the point that Hitler tells what to do despite the objections of his generals. While the Soviet Union would still win the war in the Eastern Front, it would have been bloodier if the Nazis were led by a more competent leader.

facist italy had one of the most modern industrial bases during the WWII and earlier period. it produced everything from destroyers, aircraft carriers, all sorts of verhicles, fighter jets, to tanks, etc...

but all of the weapons did not cover the key problem of the italian army: the performance sucks by many reasons. one of them was as they believed to their own propaganda. when italy invaded greece, the italian army collapsed so quickly forcing germany to intervene. that is the point I make: weapons alone do not make one to a military power. maybe yes, maybe no.

hitler wanted germany to become a superpower, a 1,000 year Reich. similar the Roman empire established long time ago, and lasting 1,000 years. he needed Mussolini and italy for his racism policy. with gerrmans as superior race. all other as subhuman. aka animals.
