LOL! Why is GM even involved then? SAIC could sell it under their own name...you know they have their own car business...like > 5 million a year..it's not like they don't know how to build cars.
GM can get some profit of course. Some of the Wuling/Baojun or even SAIC models could have GM input, also some VW input as well, due to the history of partnership SAIC formed with these companies.(But do not mistake, as IEC cars are NOT high-tech today, lots of Chinese companies build as good or even better cars than SAIC, independently, today)... But this tiny EV has ZERO GM input is for sure (not the battery, not the motor, not the platform). Wuling's tech in building small vans can trace it origin from Mitsubishi in the 90s, and this tiny EV your article shamelessly claims to come from GM is pure B.S....
You article want to tell the rednecks that China need's America's help to even build a small tiny little mini EV... which is called lowlife trick I see a lot from indians but did not expect from American...

What lowlife trick? As if u can really access into China data and know it is manipulating? Who tells u that China report sales are faked? Western media?
How thick are you??? The article is just reporting numbers from the China Passenger Car Association.

"It may be tough for SAIC-GM-Wuling to maintain its No. 1 position but it can probably at least remain in the top three, according to Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association."

It's not Bloomberg's fault if the Chinese are liars. It's just something known and dealt with. Geez!

I can't help it if the execs at SAIC didn't want to accept all the accolades for having the top selling EV in China so they hid everything behind a GM joint venture. I can see that. You are correct.

No, the article is not honest, it is called SAIC-GM-WULING, not GM-SAIC-WULING. GM ranks second, while SAIC is not even mentioned in the title and in most of the article...In addition, it has its own brand logo Wuling..

As long as GM is not the largest shareholder of the brand+GM has literally ZERO input to the car, you can not claim it is a car from GM, not to mention from GM alone, as the article suggested...lol...
It is primary and foremost, a SAIC vehicle. But if SAIC-GM-WULING want to re-badge it as Chevrolet and sell it to other countries, as they did in a lot of models, than it is a different story, you could claim as GM sales, but it is essentially still a SAIC vehicle...

As if western media don't lied or mislead.
What ever western media report, take it with a grind of salt.

When Chinese company will go global , Tesla Stock will crash like asteroid entering earth's orbit
The only reason Tesla is around is because BYD couldn't deliver their 100% EV 4 door passenger car to the world as promised in 2009. Their claims were all smoke and mirrors...this allowed Tesla to go from basically building cars in a garage to having manufacturing plants across the world.

If what BYD was saying was true back in 2009 Tesla wouldn't exist today. It's as plain and simple as that. Tesla would have never gotten far as their June 2010 IPO to fund everything would have gone nowhere.
Jan 12th 2009 Detroit Autoshow. Listen to this

It didn't happen...so now when people think of a 100% EV consumer passenger car with a worldwide presence they think of American Tesla not Chinese BYD. BYD is the biggest choke in the last 50 years of the worldwide consumer automotive industry.

Elon Musk, a guy building cars in a garage, gets his name permanently in the history books as the key person in the 21st century who jumpstarted the world into moving consumers out of gasoline/Prius hybrids and into 100% EVs...because BYD dropped the ball big time allowing his new company to get funded.

An after its Battery Day announcements, Tesla is well on its way to becoming the most valuable company in the world. They’ll be earning over $1 trillion in revenue by 2030. I highly recommend watching Rob Mauers analysis:

Typical ignorant statement. Everybody know BYD are powerhouse in EV. Their bus and yutong basically dominate the global markert. BYD main core business is battery and they are very successful. Their EV taxi dominate the China market and even certain part of the world use BYD EV taxi. Tesla is no where to be seen.

Tesla is famous and half the effort need to go to US world wide media. BYD dont even have the media of US but everybody knows they make the best EV bus in the world. Even warren buffet buys BYD stock and here we have a smart alec try to claim he is smarter or better vision than warren buffet wth his clown comment for BYD. :enjoy:

Tesla will dominate this decade. Their tech and manufacturing capabilities are so far ahead of everyone else it’s laughable. Tesla will be earning over $1 trillion in revenue by 2030 just from its automotive and battery business alone. That’s not including its autonomy/software business which will revolutionize the automotive industry. Tesla is well on the way to becoming the most valuable company in the world.

Tesla in just a few years few years is far more well-known than BYD. Not many people are walking by a bus and wondering the maker or seeing some advertisement somewhere for the latest BYD bus model. BYD isn't going to get a big mention in the history of automotive achievements because of buses/taxis. Can you name even one bus or taxi manufacturer that people the world over know/learn about due to some historic achievement? Maybe the red British double-decker but that's about it...and even then not many people know the actual company name (AEC Routemaster? Yeah right that's on the tip of people's tongues...NOT)).

Plus I'm talking about consumer cars. The President of BYD wasn't talking about buses or taxis in that 2009 talk. It was consumer 4 door passenger cars. Go listen again before going on a tangent with your own ignorance. That isn't a taxi or bus behind him in case you don't know what one looks like.

See that 4 door consumer passenger car. THAT is what he is talking about. It isn't a bus or taxi. The failure of BYD to market THAT car to the world allowed Tesla to rise from obscurity. Now Tesla is known for achieving what BYD failed to accomplish.

Don't be fool by American article. They are capable of misleading others about China.

This is the best EV offer by China at the moment. The spec beats everything tesla can throw and it's selling like hotcake at the moment. The factory are struggling now to meet customer demands.
The biggest challenge for Chinese companies is to breach the European market.

That's why I emphasized "some European cities". You know Paris and Florence are European cities, right?

I don't think a new car worth more than $20000 is affordable to 40 million poor Americans living on food stamps. Of course, if you're talking about second-hand cars and these poor people don't have houses but live in cars, I admit they will even own a RV.
those 40 million people usually buy an old care, a 10 years old car go by 500$-2000k in USA
i know several people on food stamp or disability that own more then 1 car!!

earners usually buy a car on payment plana round 200-300$/ month
