Tata has got battery technology from ISRO which is very cheap and highly efficient. This is the reason that Tata is the only highly successful in 4 wheeler EV company in India.
All Indian companies source from BYD with minimal Indian content.
Tata , Leyland and mahindra.

This contract is too big for Import and rebranding. Maybe they will start localising now with big order in hand?

All Indian ev companies, including tata , import battery cells from south Korea and China and assemble them in India.
Major cost of any ev is -
battery
motor
BMS- battery management system
Converters AC to DC , etc

Rest of the components are shared with IC vehicles.
Indian companies show the body, suspension and interiors as indigenous, probably at inflated costs and artificially increase the local content.
No technology enhancement takes place in India and the Chinese and local Indian companies get their cut.

drive a ev in sports mode and then revert.
I've heard good things but I'll keep a safe distance up untill there's proper nation-wide highway infra to charge those batteries.

or, I might not.. saw an electric Harley thing.. sounded just so weak and pathetic.. alsi V twin ki awaaz aka bass note suna hai kabhi ? Man, that's the stuff.. not this sissy battery crap..

environment gya tel lene, I want my pistons blowing up driving my crankshaft, I want to smell burning fuel.. EVs to emdum ladki ya homo waali baat hai.. main to old school banda hoon bhai.

MG motors ev starts at 23 lakhs and has poorer interiors and ride quality.

Tata , Leyland and mahindra.
They've tied up with Tata Chemicals in its attempt to build a component supplier ecosystem and manufacture lithium-ion battery cells, in addition to looking at active chemical manufacturing and battery recycling. Apart from them, Suzuki Motor Gujarat will invest Rs 7,300 crore in the construction of a battery plant near SMG’s automobile manufacturing unit by 2026.
You can’t just import and put a product without proper validation for Indian conditions. A lot of charging technology is based on software and if you don’t develop software to optimally charge the battery, there is always a danger
