Swedish Auto Maker #Scania to Start Operations in #Pakistan

Swedish truck maker, Scania, is interested in entering the Pakistani market. Encouraged by Pakistan’s investment potential and the rapid growth of the heavy vehicle market, Scania will bring in their series of premium trucks, truck-tractors, buses and coaches.

They have partnered with a local distributor for this purpose. Scania is also looking into the possibility of setting up a manufacturing plant in Pakistan.

Yousaf Dewan Companies have struck a deal with the European truck manufacturer for exclusive distribution rights. The deal was signed in a meeting between Scania Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Christian Levin and Yousaf Dewan Companies Chairman Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui.

    Pakistan, The “Preferred Investment Destination”
Mr. Levin said, “We are delighted to introduce our quality trucks and buses in Pakistan. Pakistan is quickly emerging as a preferred investment destination in the world; the automotive industry, in particular, sees a lot of investment potential in the wake of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).”

He added that Scania’s entry into the Pakistani truck market will help increase the competition which ultimately benefits the consumers. It will also help create employment and business opportunities for the local workforce.

    About Scania
Scania was founded in 1891 in Skane, Sweden. Currently Scania operates out of more than a 100 countries with more than 42,100 employees.

Chairman Dewan Yousaf Companies said, “I believe it is opportune time for Scania to enter Pakistan market as our economy is growing by leaps and bounds, especially the truck and bus sector is witnessing unprecedented exponential growth.”

    Govt’s Auto Policy
He continued that the government’s new auto policy played a major role in bringing Pakistan’s automotive industry back from the brink. The truck and bus industry is seeing huge growth which is an indicator of economic expansion in the country.

Additionally, CPEC has brought in more than $60 billion investment and has created a demand for fuel efficient, high speed/power long haul vehicles.

    About Yousaf Dewan Companies
Yousaf Dewan Companies has partnered with the likes of BMW and Mitsubishi as well and is one of the major distributors of the two companies in Pakistan.

    Yeee Scania Trucks :toast_sign:
In Heavy Hauling Trucks category, give us a few models with HP of 220-360
    Make them very fuel efficient
    Reasonable Spare parts price
Reasonable prices not like Hino trucks!
    cheap Engine overhaul
dont make it over fancy or over complicated - we Oil transporters are more practical -we want the work done - not show off irrelevant gadgets plus it confuses us and our drivers

When you build it (CPEC), they (manufactureres) will come.

After the first phase of CPEC, the second phase will unleash rapid industrialisation.

The ME and African markets can also be served from SEZs in Pak...

The most important thing is to establish security through professional policing and community participation... indians will do everything in their power through proxy terrorism to scare investors away.

Hopefully, Pak State is alive to such challenges...

Truly an Historic, Transformational Opportunity for Pak State and Pak Peoples to catch up the lost decades of development.

Sincere hope you pull this one off!

All I am saying is we should not be interested in "possibility" of manufacturing. Either they manufacture in Pakistan or we say no thanks. The language that was used was: "They have partnered with a local distributor for this purpose. Scania is also looking into the possibility of setting up a manufacturing plant in Pakistan."

A perfect time for them to make an entry as CPEC is only beginning to take shape. They can negotiate on their terms at the moment. A few years down the line they might not have this luxury.
