No one knows, there are many theories about that.Vedas have mentioned that and by many accounts it's either a dried river in today's Pakistan or Helmand River on top of that exact date of composition of Vedas is unknown, they seem to be ancient than people think.
You can easily identify dried or diverted river beds easily thanks to modern science. New efficient methods and still credible methods like carbon dating is also not a challenge.

Humanity existed without interruption in the region before and after any recorded or observed natural calamity.

When Christopher Columbus sailed out for 'India' in the year 1492, he missed the direction and reached the Americas.
Columbus called the inhabitants of the lands that he visited indios (Spanish for "Indians")
They were always searching for Indus Valley civilisation, something which was as advance as Egyptian civilisation.Early records wrote it Indica, even GoI admits that word India is name of river Indus.

What has Darius to do with 850AD Sulayman from an Arab province?

Go back to the western theater
Calm down rambo,

Sulaiman or Soleiman al-Tajir (Arabic for "Soloman the Merchant", Persian: سلیمان تاجر) was a 9th-century Persian Muslim merchant, traveler and writer initially from Siraf in modern-day Iran.

Don't use us Iranians for your anti-China pro American garbage.

You are using Iranians for your propaganda against the nation of China.
How do views of 9th century Persian traveler affect 21st century Iran-China relationship? Will 9th century Sulaiman's views be responsible for breaking of Iran-China relations in 21st century? I hope you are fine.

You Indians are pretty funny.. trying everything to discredit your ''enemies''. If you want to spread propaganda it is fine but don't do it in the name of Iranians.

That 9th century traveler happens to be 'Persian'. It's not like he is using him purposely because he is 'Persian'. Understand the difference? And a thread in PDF doesn't affect national policy, got it?

Highly possible that Our Farsi traveler was exploring NW Indian part which is now Southern and Eastern Pakistan.

Also 9th century means that two iranic waves into Indus valley or NW India were rather more fresh. First being IE + BMAC Iranics =Aryan or pure Iranic Sychtians. Both groups went into NW with their genes and provided Indus valley (Iranic Neolithic farmers) civilization with iranic male lineage haplogroups like R1, J2 (prevalent among pakistanis now)

How Interesting!

Whenever you see anywhere "ancient India" described by ancient historians, that means only today's Pakistan,it has nothing to do with modern India mostly.
Wrong, it includes parts of present day India as well as Pakistan:-).
