Somon Airline will start flight operation between Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Lahore from Friday to promote people-to-people contacts between the two friendly countries.

There will be two weekly flights on every Monday and Friday, said Tajik Ambassador Sherali S Jononov on Wednesday by at a news conference.

This will be a major breakthrough in further cementing bilateral ties particularly in the business sector, he said, adding that it would also be a source of strength for promoting tourism and culture between the two countries.

Somon Air also launched flights to Kabul from Aril 29. It serves as the official carrier of president of the Republic of Tajikistan. Two-way fare between Lahore and Dushanbe will be Rs 35,700. It will be shortest route connecting the two countries directly.

Lahore and Dushanbe, the ambassador said, were the twin-cities and he hoped that their cooperative partnership would get a big boost.

The ambassador said now the businessmen and traders of both the countries could directly reach Dushanbe and Lahore. In the past, passengers from Pakistan had to use Dubai route to reach Dushanbe by spending more than 15 hours. Now they would reach their destination in one hour and 40 minutes, he added.

Since its formation, Somon Air has been primarily focusing on passenger service and transportation to Eastern Europe and other locations. Most flights to international destinations operate from Dushanbe.

He said the airline uses the Boeing 737 in its fleet. Somon Air now operates two Boeing 737-900ER, two Boeing 737-800s and two Boeing 737-300. Somon Air now operates to Kaub, Urumqi, Frankfurt, Almaty, Moscow, St Peterburg, Jeddah, Istanbul and Dubai, said Nadeem Z Cheema, representative of Somon Air in Pakistan.

Our governments never discuss visa free or visa on arrival with other delegates. Why don't they ever do that? Easing of visa or visa on arrival is never on our politicians mind . Make it easier for your nationals to move around .

Recently Indonesia Included Pakistan on visa on arrival list but because Pakistan embassy didnt respond to it they removed Pakistan from its list .

A positive step in reviving our centuries old relationship with Central Asia. These were closed when Russia captured
Central Asia and raised the iron curtain. Now once again our historic relationships are being developed but at a slow rate. I certainly hope slow and steady wins the race for both regions.

Because Expats abused the convenience so much that they had to do away with.
1-Pakistani abused the Nordic bloc so much by filing for refuges that they stopped issuing visas to single Pakistanis
2-Pakistanis abused Srilankan visa-on-arrival facility so much that Srilanka abandoned it.
