This one is perfect, I love seeing green city like this, more like KL, is the right side is protected forest ? Since I dont see people building any houses there ?? @Bilal9
Maybe, not sure.

But 2nd tier cities like Comilla have been growing quite fast because it is right next to the main export artery (Dhaka-Chittagong highway) and there are many SEZ's close by which connect to that export artery.

Wooded areas grow quite fast because of weather and locality (rains a lot half the year). The govt. has also designated some protected forest areas and there is an army base close by which is located within the wooded area (Mainamati Cantt.).

You are right.

I wasn't suggesting US/Canada style sprawl, they have that luxury in the US and we don't in Bangladesh.

S'pore style high rises are fine (HDB flats type high rises - I know the designs of those buildings very well). But S'pore HDB flats don't ignore offsets/setbacks, have trails, multi story parking structures, planned walking areas and also community centers/greenery/play areas for toddlers and soccer fields for youth within the complex. You need those.

Chinese new towns are similar.

Maybe brother @Indos can briefly tell us how planned new towns in Indonesia are built or if they are similar to HDB flats in Singapore.

Most HDB flat complexes also have walk-on access to public transport like buses and MRT in S'pore. You at least have to plan for that (reserve rights-of-way), even if you don't have budget for it right now for most small cities in Bangladesh.

If living in Kushtia or Jessore was as comfortable and safe as living in Dhaka, then people would not need to come to Dhaka. This is more evident, as a lot of educated knowledge workers even in Bangladesh are working from home via laptop.
Indonesian people doesnt like living in a flat or apartment, only few flats/apartment for instant you can see in Jakarta. So when new city is built where the land cost is much cheaper, they will also prefer to build houses.

This is an example of new city build near Jakarta

Yeah I have not visited Jakarta, but my friends tell me (and as I've seen on YouTube) Indonesian new housing development mirrors that of Europe and the US.

Although in the case of US (other than some high density areas in California) the housing units are much larger than that of any other country. In my immediate area (UCLA/Beverly Hills/Westwood and environs), the sky is the limit for luxury houses, but even some gated communities have 20,000 to 25,000 sqft. single family units priced above five/seven million depending on area. These are for extremely well-heeled folks.

In Bangladesh currently, land prices are at a premium, so you correctly surmised that even luxury buyers (not super luxury) will only be able to get apartments (up to 8000 sqft. or so) in urban areas rather than single family housing with a yard. I don't think there are any single family housing being sold in Bangladesh, except in some rare subdivisions and cases.

That said, some rich folks in Bangladesh have ultramodern country villas that rival anything in the US, except maybe the castle architecture. I have posted the images in some of the threads here before.

Even in the US, they used to have plots of land that was 1.5 to 2 acres with a single luxury house (mansion) in it. This is getting harder and harder to find in urban areas, you can still find one out in sparsely populated states like Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

Mashallah and Subhanallah brother. Beautiful!

You guys are lucky in Indonesia to have such nice developments.

Maybe some Bangladeshi real estate companies can collaborate with Indonesian companies to build developments like these in Bangladesh.

By the way - Best wishes for a peaceful Ramadan Kareem. :-)

That is right, couple in US where they dont even have high paid job can get good and big houses there, but of course they still need bank loan for that.

This Indonesia-American couple living in US lives in the neighborhood where both houses and its yard are perfect, it is quite rare to see this in Indonesia

Yes a lot of folks can maintain their yards and property using DIY tools which are reasonably easy to purchase and use.

I for one, hardly call a repairman and can fix most of my issues in the house myself. Including drywalling, plumbing, house framing and electrical stuff.

Tools are not expensive in the US, but labor to fix things is...
