A very good summary indeed, many thanks for the link.

Adding to the above. MilitaryFactory holds a pretty extensive database of - among other things - WWII naval combatants. including stats, history and combat sortie information.

    You can find it here.

Moreover, I would be amiss if I didn't mention the site combinedfleet.com which is the definite source for anything regarding the Imperial Japanese Navy. Among others, Jon Parshall writes on this site and has made a pretty good analysis and comparison for WWII battleships in particular, going into painstaking detail for every one of their attributes and kinks.

WW2 imo was the best era of warfare (i know it sounds so wrong) but look from ground warfare to air combat to naval warfare (how many ship classes there were their roles etc) everything involved thinking and courage needed brilliant minds to conduct them strategic moves. Nowadays warfare sounds boring it has become deadly but that thing is not there anymore.

Me! :D Rank is admiral here, my chosen nick here is Nilgiri (after blue-mountain range near my birthplace):

I do love the Navy traditionally out of the military branches...Kriegsmarine gave everyone (given their small size and strategic positional nightmare) a real run for their money too...my favourite navy overall.
