1) A knee jerk reaction to this graphic would be that India exports more to Pakistan and therefore, it is not beneficial to Pakistan. But a more critical thought would realize that Pakistan imports these goods from India at a cheaper price and therefore its own production that is exported elsewhere is competitive. I use the same rational to view India - China trade imbalance.

2) Second thought would be that trade is insignificant. For this, I would point to the world bank prediction for trade potential which stands at $36 billion if trade is 'normalized' fully.

I'm open to trade w/ india depending on what we're exporting & importing & how much. I also don't think Kashmir will be put on the back burner due to trade. Just look at India-china conflict.

However, this decision needs to be taken by a gov that actually has a popular mandate.

Also, this just lends credence to the belief that it was IK that was hard on India & it was army that went soft. It was army that failed to prevent & take necessary action after article 370 was revoked.

What rubbish, we have liberal trade ties with Bangladesh which is a bigger economy yet our bilateral trade hasn’t went past $10 billion and might take 10 years to cross $30 bn mark. One of the reasons why I don’t trust world bank data and stats that much.

I think that border states to Pakistan may have better trade potential than that with Bangladesh? 🤔

Nawaz Sharif and family has many businesses in India which will churn out the material for these. Essentially he is just paving way for Pakistan to pay his companies in India in USD.
