Wang Yichuan, a student from No 2 High School of East China Normal University based in Shanghai, won a gold medal with full marks at the 62nd International Mathematical Olympiad 2021 held in Russia on Friday.

All six contestants from China won gold medals, ranking China first among 107 countries participating in the competition.

Wang has been interested in math since childhood and started math Olympiad training in primary school, which contributed to glory and awards he's received in math competitions at middle school.

"I stick to my math training plan every day, staying focused to develop and maintain my competitive edge before contests," he replied, when asked his secret to success.

Wang expressed his gratitude for the help from his coaches and competition training mechanism at school, which facilitated students' individualized development in the areas they like.

"He hardly plays games in leisure time, and rarely stays up late, due to his high study efficiency," said Tang Lihua, Wang's coach at school.

"His dedication to and perseverance in math study also fosters his rapid progress in math study," Tang added.

According to Tang, Wang will further his study in computer science at Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities in China, in September.

This is more meaningful than the Olympic champions. China won in almost all brainpower competitions. China even ranked No.1 in World Skills Competition. US can not stop China for good reasons.

Everyone knows this is far more important than the Olympics. This has real world benefits to advance science and technology.

India at the bottom. But US big tech love these guys like crazy.

1, Mongolia ranked 11th! What a surprise for a poor country with only 3 million population. Never underestimate any East Asian country.
2, US dropped to No.4. Is that a result of anti-China movement?
3, I hope India's bad score is the result of their bad bureaucracy in selecting contestants and training courses. Otherwise India is hopeless.

If there was a Olympics for bragging, India would always win the gold medal. No one would come close.

Singaporean Chinese elites love Indians to the point that she allow Indians come and kick Singaporeans out of jobs, meanwhile accusing Singaporeans of racist and xenophobic.

This is despite all races in Singapore are united against India nationals.

I care about world leading advancement in the sciences, not worthless "brainpower" competitions. The US has over 300 Nobel Prize winners in the sciences. We're second to no one.

You can not deny Indians have high EQ. That's why they are competitive in management positions.

Political correctness. This virus spread like covid. Luckily China is not infected by it. Which is regarded by the west as one of crimses China has committed.

Before WW2, USA gets very little Nobel prize, and I can only remember Michelson. US fundamental education is always crap.

USA become brain superpower because of influx of European scientists while she continues to neglect her basic education. Later she receives talent all over the world.

I see the influx coming to and end soon and USA going to sht hole.

The modern education was not massively introduced into China until 1950's. Till 21th century, Chinese government started to pour money on education and science.

Nobel prize has a lead time. Japan got Nobel prize at a rate of 1 pax a year, for last 10 years, but the research was done at the 1980s -- during the peak of Japan's economy.

We will see Chinese Nobel prize sprouting at around 2030.

This picture shows everything about their Nobel prize, and the force behind their science and tech advancement:

Awards mean nothing.

What matters are the following:
Number of Scientists
Number of Engineers
R&D spending
Number of patents
