According Jairo Candido, President of Inbra Group, a partner of Saab in the country, the plant will be erected in a field next to the beltway, where the city will build a hub for the defense industry.

"Let us learn from the Swedes how to make parts of an airplane at another level," said Jairo Candido, whose company is now responsible for parts of Embraer aircraft.

In December, President Dilma Rousseff Saab announced as the winner of an international tender for the purchase of new aircraft for the Brazilian combat. 36 aircraft will be acquired for $ 4.5 billion. The assembly and integration of the parts and systems of the aircraft will be made by Embraer .

The initial investment of $ 150 million will be for the physical plant facilities and transfer of equipment and machinery.

"We will be a factory aero level 1, as we learn to do the important parts of the aircraft such as wings, fuselage. This Brazil never did. Until now produce parts of level 2 and 3 (simple)" said Jairo Candido, the Inbra Group.

The mayor of San Bernardo, Luiz Marinho, says that when the former Defence Minister Nelson Jobin, criticized the Gripen, stating that it was just a plane "still on paper," Saab has asked for help. "I saw an opportunity there to demystify it and an opportunity to bring investment in the region," he said.

The initial estimate is that the first game to be delivered in 2018.

"We see Brazil as a potential partner. Choosing Sao Bernardo do Campo to host this industry is due to a number of factors, including the fact that several companies Swedish are already established in the region. We have a trusted partnership with the city, "said vice president of Saab.
