WTF security? The assassin didn't even have to blend into the crowd, he was the only person standing behind the ambassador with no guards? this is absolutely bizarre or just monumental incompetence!

Meeting with Sergei Lavrov, Sergei Naryshkin and Alexander Bortnikov
The President chaired a meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin and Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov.

Meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (left), Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin (right) and Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Tragic news has arrived from Turkey, where Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov was brutally murdered.

First of all, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of our departed colleague.

I ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to award Mr Karlov a state decoration posthumously and to make proposals on how best to honour his memory. He died in the line of duty.

This was an outstanding diplomat who was highly regarded in Turkey and had very good relations with Turkish top officials and other political forces, who respected him.

Mr Karlov was a very intelligent, gentle and kind man. I knew him personally. During my last trip in Turkey this autumn he was constantly by my side.

This crime is undeniably a provocation aimed at derailing the normalisation of Russian-Turkish relations and the peace process in Syria, which is actively promoted by Russia, Turkey, Iran and other countries interested in the settlement of the internal conflict in Syria.

There can be only one response – stepping up the fight against terrorism – which the criminals will find out firsthand.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has already opened a case on the murder, and has been tasked with forming a working group which will promptly leave for Ankara to take part in the investigation of this crime together with Turkish partners. This was just agreed during a telephone conversation with the President of Turkey. We must find out who directed the killer’s hand.

Security must be tightened at Turkish diplomatic missions in Russia, the embassy, and other missions, and the Turkish side should provide assurances on security at Russian diplomatic offices in accordance with Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

I also ask you to introduce coordinated proposals on tightening security measures at Russian diplomatic missions abroad.

Turkiye should start operation in whole country and neutralize all gulenists...

We all know US is not happy with growing bonhomie between Turkiye and Russia...

See this in context of failed coup attempt...

This will really not impact relations between Turkiye and Russia as someone pointed out both countries are about to meet for certain purpose in coming days...

You should ask these too:
Why did Turkey shoot Su-24 down?!
What happened to Gen.Yuri.Ivanov?
Why did Turkey protect FSA and Al-Nusra?
And many questions.
If Trumps gets in office, Turks should get ready for some bad events.

You are forgetting here that Turkey is the second largest member of NATO.

According to NATO charter , attacking one NATO member states is like attacking all NATO member states . Turkey is defending EU nations and even seeing racial and religious discrimination.

United States is having hard time not because of Turkey being in NATO alliance but because of the wrong policies adopted by many EU member states.

United States is having more good relations with Japan, South Korea, GCC, Turkey and Republic of India.

EU member states wants to be white nations but the reality is visible during the Ukraine war.

Same technique

As Many said, this is a standard shooter technique for holding a pistol with both hand, basically anyone with a slight firearm training will hold a pistol like that. Anyone from Law Enforcement, Police, Security Guard to Sport Shooter.

On the other hand, SF trained or Intelligence agent don't teach that, almost all SF are taught with holding a pistol with one hand (So the other hand is free to do other stuff you need) and hold it close to your body and NOT TO EXTEND YOUR ARMS. That way you can round a corner without someone grabbing or deflecting your pistol.

He hold it like that suggesting he is not SF or any Intelligence Paramilitary Group, more like a security guard or police officer.

RIP on the Russian Ambassador.

But I laugh so hard on the US, CIA conspiracy theory. If this is a Turkish or American function, the CIA or US angle would make sense, this is very apprent a Russian function (with Russian Ambassador attending) the security will be lay down by RUSSIAN, not American or Turkish. Either the American are that mighty and can go in and out and shoot the ambassador (which usually have Tier 1 security detail), or the Russian detail is that stupid that can allow this to happen.

You cannot just look at who benefit from this and assign blame, because in hind sight, EVERYONE, even the russian benefit from this (With the shooting, the Russian can tighen their noose on the Turkey-Russian talk and round turkey in) you also need to look at how doable a falseflag attack can be, again, this is not possible because the russian I know is not stupid, and they would have a Russian detail on their ambassador, and those guy MUST be top tier. To have hit it like that, the shooter must have insider infomration on the detail, and I doubt an American agency can get information for an Russian event like that.

More bigger problem is breeding around EU and Arctic region

Western diplomats said the fact that the NATO-Russia Council, where the Russian ambassador to the North Atlantic alliance sits with members states' envoys, had met at all was significant after an increase in Russian military deployments.

Russia has alarmed NATO by equipping its Baltic fleet with nuclear-capable missiles and stepping up Cold War-style aerial incursions to probe Western air defenses. In October, it demonstratively sent its sole aircraft carrier close to Europe's shores on its way to Syria.

Russian Ambassador Alexander Grushko gave a detailed briefing on Russian military exercises involving around 120,000 personnel in recent months, NATO diplomats said.

There was also discussion in Brussels of the tactics being used by Russian pilots, which NATO says are unsafe. These include flying barrel rolls over Western aircraft, not sharing flight plans, and flying without the transponders that allow jets to be identified by ground radar.

NATO members would not recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, and that the alliance remained deeply concerned about eastern Ukraine, partly controlled since 2014 by rebels whom NATO accuses Moscow of financing.

Yeah article 5. Trump will not go to war with Russia becoz of Turkey. Turkey should normalize her behavior to avoid any kind of conflicts with Russia.

Speaking to private broadcaster NTV on Dec. 17, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş said all signs pointed to the in the Kayseri attack, which followed twin bombings , that killed 44 people, mostly police officers, in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district on Dec. 10.

The remarks came after a suicide car bomb targeted a military vehicle on Dec. 17 in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri, killing 14 soldiers and wounding 55 others.

You look stupid. Technology wins the war not number of equipment.
You are already aware what type of arguement , you always give .

Yeah article 5. Trump will not go to war with Russia becoz of Turkey. Turkey should normalize her behavior to avoid any kind of conflicts with Russia.

United States have faced economic crisis because of the currency wars in which EU nations have worked more against the alliance .

AS EXPECTED

Russia has simply stated that this incident was to derail Turk-Russian ties.

They will request investigation, commiserations have been exchanged and life will go on

Turkey is more than capable of militarily taking care of itself and the Russians do not have the money nor power nor will to take on Turkey whilst the west points and laughs.

No surprise there.

Secularism was just a cover to get into EU and freeload on the benefits.

Turkey is slowly heading back to its old self. :)
