India is way deep in Uncle Sam’s camp, it’s almost point of no return.
We need to capitalize on this opportunity to get small ticket items, including engine overhaul facilities, joint exercises and training for our Jawans in Russia, etc but the focus should be on economy.
Russia was once a predominantly agrarian society, and under the organization of the Soviet government they carried out reforms to education and literacy that allowed them to leap frog into the modern world. Their economic system and overspending on the military bogged them down. The Chinese learned from this and applied it to their society with “Chinese characteristics”. Neither way will work for Pakistan for a number of reasons, But if they are
ASPECTS we can learn from the Russians and the Chinese it’s not only in physical ToT, but social ToT.
Also, the Russians have a great math program and know how to find and mold their geniuses. Finding and molding our intellectual and athletic stars should be a national priority.
the other area we should work with the Russians is mineral exploration; oil/gas as well as precious metals. If their map of minerals of Afghanistan can generate such interest, there is no reason a similar map of what may be in Pakistan can help fuel interest in domestic and foreign investment into our mining sector. Once Pakistan is a regional leader in mining and inshallah some stability comes to Afghanistan, Pakistan will be well positioned to help bid for mining contracts there.
As far as acquiring weapons from Russia, subsystems and training and not whole systems are probably the best things to acquire, especially as not to get CAATSA’d.
