Eighty three percent export earning coming from just garments sector. This is an extreme form of dependency to a single product and very dangerous.Much like oil export dependent economy. Unless we diversify our export basket really fast, our export will certainly hit a ceiling in near future.Competitiveness is the key and for achieving competitiveness, right education policy which create skilled, educated and trained work forces is vital as well as policy supports and infrastructure development.

True and quite well-stated. Diversification of export basket is the need of the day.

Which has already started somewhat. Leather-goods and shoe exports have started picking up speed while light engg. products (bicycles, motorcycles, auto parts) and white goods (TVs, Aircons, Refrigerators) have gathered momentum as well. You have to give these things time to develop.

We do need stronger thrust and investment in massive amounts of vocational and basic industrial education. Like welding processes, sheet-metal work, lathe work, motor/transformer manufacturing as well as mechanical assembly processes. People are eager to learn but there is a serious dearth of training opportunities.

Also - once the CTG area EPZ's get fully activated (MirerSharai will be the first one next) - then we will see some traction in export diversification in earnest.

You aren't smart enough or transparent enough to diversify.

You can't even stop a million or so medical refugees flocking from your personal claimed profession each year..

Enjoy your fate....the fate of all backwaters crushed under banana basket case ego.
