Seen here in South Korean service, the Boeing E-737 AEW&C aircraft was expected to enter into Qatari service with the announcement of a sale in 2014. However, Boeing has told that this transaction was never completed. Source: Boeing

Qatar has decided not to proceed with the procurement of three Boeing E-737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft that was first announced in 2014, Jane'swas told on 18 October.

The US manufacturer said that the Gulf state has chosen not to complete the transaction, which at the time it was announced during the DIMDEX 2014 exhibition in Doha was valued at QAR6.6 billion (USD1.8 billion in 2014 dollars).

Boeing did not say why Qatar has not fulfilled its procurement, though it appears that the company had expected to complete the transaction as recently as March, with a video playing on its stand at DIMDEX 2018 featuring the E-737 in Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) markings. The Qatari Ministry of Defence did not respond to a request for comment.

The QEAF currently has no airborne early warning capability and the procurement of the E-737 would have represented a significant boost in its capabilities. Having decided not to proceed with the E-737, it is unclear if Qatar is considering an alternative or if it has decided not to field an airborne early warning capability altogether.

Any reason? Do they lack budget or buying something else...geo-political situation is not getting any better in the region so it may cost them a lot more.

Turkish Airforce will be in Turkish Military Base in Qatar ( F-16s , Boeing E7 AEWC in near future )

Qatar is small country ,, Qatar doesnt need AEWC
and Turkey can give 600+ km EIRS early warning AESA Radar and 450km land based AESA Radar version of CAFRAD naval Radar to Qatar

600+ km Aselsan EIRS, is a new generation S-Band radar developed for long range early warning, with its AESA and digital beamforming antenna architecture. EIRS has the ability to detect and track air breathing targets, ballistic missiles, anti-radiation missiles and stealth/low RCS targets from very long ranges

    450km CAFRAD AESA Radar

    Active, Non-Rotating IFF Antenna Subsystem
    • STANAG 4193 compliant Mode 1/2/3/C/S/5 interrogation
    • 450 km range

    Active Phased Array Multifunction Radar
    • X-Band
    • Volume and horizon search
    • Air/surface target detection, tracking and classification
    • Sea-skimming fast-small target detection and tracking
    • Multiple target precise tracking
    • 150 km range
    • Track capacity >1000

and Qatar should buy Airborne stand off Jammer from Turkey instead of AEWC

Remote Electronic Support and Electronic Attack (ED / ET) capability project (HAVASOJ - Air Stand Off Jammer) in the air platform

Airborne SOJ will be produced for the purpose of detecting and diagnosing enemy communicationsystems and radars (air defense, early warning, etc.), finding their location, and mixing and deceiving these systems in order not to use them against friendly elements, especially in cross-border operations , deliveries will be made to Turkish Airforce in 2023

Well kj 500 then same radar on a different aircraft chassis would be cool too. I think thats kj 500? Mostly i suggested it cuz its vhf is awesome and can even detect full stealth aircraft at reasonable distances.
Qatar itself is like an aircraft career :P an island.

I wonder why they would cancel such an order, maybe because of all the fighters jet they have order/put interest cost them to cancel the E-737 AEWC deal.
