PSL under continuous attack from bookies and fixers

DUBAI: Anti-Corruption and Security Unit of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again made a spot-fixing stint, aimed at Pakistan Super League (PSL), unsuccessful.

According to a news story in Daily Jang, all six teams taking part in third edition of PSL have been given a briefing under emergency situations and warned about a bookie belonging to Peshawar who is currently in Dubai as well as Indian links.

Players of all teams were directed to inform authorities if the bookie tries to approach any of them.

PCB officials on the other hand are restricted by the International Cricket Council to give away the picture of the alleged bookie.

Previously, another attempt of spot-fixing made by Bangladeshi and Indian bookies was made ineffective by PCB who later took stringent measures against them.

According to many, this was an attempt to scandalise and sabotage PSL 2018 by Indian and Bangladeshi bookies who tried to contact players via three social mediums; Facebook, WhatsApp and FaceTime.

The two bookies had then been blacklisted in the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit.
