ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said that the ruling government will finalise the process of including FATA in the national mainstream during this month (May).

“We will hold meetings with opposition parties, take them into confidence over the matter and will finalise the process of including FATA in the national mainstream,” PM Abbasi said while addressing a National Assembly session.

The premier added that some decisions have been made regarding the FATA reforms today (Wednesday), while the time frame for implementation of the reforms will only be decided after holding talks with the country’s political bigwigs.

“We hope that the implementation of the FATA reforms will take place during our tenure,” PM Abbasi added.

He also highlighted the significance of the reforms to the people of the region saying that the FATA reforms “are a need of the people living there” and urged political parties to join hands for the purpose.

PM Abbasi added that for the development of FATA, funds worth Rs 1 trillion will be accumulated.

Yes this is serious issue.. All parties should together but exclude Achakzia and molana fazal both are pakistan's traitors they both created hurdles in order to mainstream FATA.

So FATA would be another province OR would it be merged with KPK ? Only time would tell us it's political move or they are sincerely doing it. But what so ever FATA reforms are long overdue.

PM Abbasi abolishes ADF, announces Rs1 trillion funds for FATA uplift
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has announced that Agency Development Fund (ADF) has been withdrawn from the federally-administered tribal areas (FATA) as part of government’s efforts to bring the impoverished region into national mainstream.

“The FATA Reforms Implementation Committee has decided to spend Rs1 trillion in the tribal areas over the next 10 years and this will be in addition to the annual development budget. The purpose is to develop tribal areas at par with rest of the country,” Prime Minister Abbasi told the lower house of Parliament on Wednesday.

“The matter will be taken up at the next meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI) and I hope we will get it approved,” he said.

The government, he said, was fully committed to provide funds for the progress and prosperity of FATA. He said that local body elections would also be held before October 2018 so that people could elect their representatives.

The prime minister said that peace had already been restored in the tribal agencies due to the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan army.

Talking about the next general elections, he said that the government would consult with parliamentary leaders to reach a consensus on the time-frame for the dissolution of National and Provincial Assemblies.

It all depend on provinces in CCI if they want to give FATA share from their NFC award. Rs100b per year will be enough to develop it relatively speaking, FATA have population of about 5 million as per 2017 census.
