Kerry is expected to participate in a strategic dialogue and meet Pakistan’s military and political leadership.— Twitter
Breakfast at Dunkin Donuts was on Tuesday's agenda for United States Secretary of State John Kerry, who is in Pakistan for a two-day trip to discuss US-Pak relations.

Chocolate-flavoured donuts — his favourite — were the order of the day for the secretary of state, who was spotted buying breakfast at the Dunkin Donuts’ US Embassy outlet in Islamabad today.

The Secretary of State also tweeted a picture of himself buying donuts with the caption, “A little slice of home here in Islamabad.”

Kerry was in high spirits and shared some light moments with the local staff at the franchise.

He is on a two-day visit to Pakistan and had met with Sartaj Aziz, adviser to Nawaz Shairf on foreign affairs, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.

I am not a fan of donuts. I prefer local sweets like Gulab Jamun and Jalebi but they sell Good Sandwiches too. They have shop quite close to my house too.

In stark comparison, Former US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter enjoys the local "Halwa Puri" at Capri Restaurant, Lahore.

Exactly the old dude eat Donuts when its available in all 50 states. When you visit other country you should at least try to eat the local cuisine. Not out of respect, but of a sense of adventure.

How about: 'Make the local food'.

Kerry found an American treat in Pakistan and he made a stop. What is the big deal ? If a Pakistani come to America and he eat at a Pakistani restaurant to see if it tastes the same as his hometown, would you call him a 'bastard' for not eating at McDonald's ?

Are you guys that desperate to criticize the US that you have make a mountain out of a molehill ? It is only a damn doughnut.

How do you know he has not already tried the local food ? Just from a photo op ?

To paraphrase an old Presidential quote, if Kerry had walked across the water on Rawal Lake, they would complain he doesn't know how to swim. :D

Nobody is criticizing any Japanese tourists for eating Japanese food in America. In fact, we welcome tourists to eat the American versions of their countries' cuisine. I grew up in Hawaii. Use the American invention call 'The Internet' to see what people in Hawaii eat.

Errr..with due respect, donuts were introduced by dutch settlers in north america which is later modified by American food genius (to be honest)
So,following your logic, I ask you that what does a dutch invention is doing in America? Aren't american food good enough to work on?
Please just because a single poster made wrong approach doesn't mean that you make your question generally with everyone with same tone. Indeed even I would have lost my temper if somebody dared to throw shit at our ambassador.
    ----------------------------------------------------
Pakistani foods are as wonderful as that of American or Italian.American foods are well known for their unique flavour, sweetness and colour such as tex-mex,stews,maple soups (an american dude told me) and yes,not to forget pies.
On the other hand,Pakistani foods are also having unique flavour, style, spices etc.
There is one thing common b/w US and Pakistani culture: diversity
Both cultures are diverse as different nations have conquered and migrated to US or PAK soil and so food is affected
Anyways, I wonder as if even foods are stamped by countries not culture?
    ---------------------------------------------------
You people are getting hopeless with passage of time. You gentlemen even argue or pick up a fight upon Mr.Kary's visit to local franchise for having donuts.
Yesterday poor @jhungary opened up a condolence thread and some of you began to jump at him that our blood is not superior.Complete emotional machines, high with hormones. You people have insoluble dilemma of adolescence. Huh!
    Regards

My question was to point out the absurdity and pettiness of this thread.

Am no fan of John Kerry. I think he is the wrong person to present the US on the world stage. But the point that the idiots who made hay out of this is that they are ignorant of the details and of simple thinking. Kerry is in Pakistan for merely two days. Do these fools know what kind of schedule a diplomat at Kerry's level have in two days ? Barely time to eat breakfast and dinner, no lunch. Then when they do have time to eat, they cannot afford to eat and socialize. Their meals are working meals, meaning if the guests are not their peers, then the meals are shared with aides with issues to talk about. The meals have to be quick and easy to eat. No time to be 'cultured' as an ignorant Chinese poster admonished.

You guys -- the people in this forum -- are so desperate to criticize US at any level that you reduced yourselves to the level of children.

Munter's daughter went to university with my Bro. They had a south asian food gala, where my brother prepared Chicken Biryani. Munter at that time was not the US ambassador to Pakistan, he walked up to my Brother's stand, and started having biryani. My bro asked him, sir do you like Pakistani food? Cameron Munter replied, yes i love it, and i will be having more of it because i am heading to Islamabad as the next US Ambassador to Pakistan! Yikes!

I was like......wow......look at the world man.

Gambit, that is a pretty stupid question. There tons of western food outlets in Pakistan, not just American. We have our own food and we have West/East continental as well just like any nation.

I don't hate my dealer, i just don't like it when he doesn't pick up my phone at 3am.:drag:
