He is not wrong, the tribal Pashtunwali culture indeed does believe such, including women not getting an education, as emphasised by the Taliban. However, not all Pashtuns follow these rules as it is mainly the tribal areas.

The denialism is cringe on Twitter though, the one-off examples, or Kabuli liberalised Tajik dominated areas are not representative of Pashtun culture overall. That would be disingenuous.

Taliban 1996-2001

• Women were asked to cover themselves properly
• Women were asked to be accompanied by male relatives outside of the house
• Any women who failed to abide by earlier three rules were punished
• Men were forbidden to shave their beards and required to grow it long
• Prayer was made obligatory
• Gambling was banned

I wish these babus were doing Thier Job instead of lecturing us about tea consumption, how to make electricity and than the very next day lecture us about cultures of ethnic groups of Pakistan

All cultures of our region except for probably gilgit and Lahore, some of it's surrounding districts were conservative and backwards - this was our reality and our region

With time all of us changed and are changing gradually (we still rank at the bottom of gender indexes), I was reading somewhere that pre terrorism swat or kpk in general (not sure);had the highest attendence rate of girls anywhere in the country

Waziristan=/ culture of all Pashtuns, it's an economically depressed region that shouldn't be used as an example for all people of KPK, North Baluchistan, just like interior Sindh women are being married of to quran, in Punjab acid attack, rape, honor killings are becoming an epidemic , during floods one Baloch village wasn't even allowed to be evacuated as they feared it might hurt the honor of their women folks

This is the bad part of our culture but is not described as "culture" cause it's bad, it's toxic, we want to get rid of it

But What we don't do is air our dirty laundry in front of everyone - that marrying our daughters to quran, honor killings, acid attacks are part of our culture, oppressing women, endangering thier lives in name of honor is our culture- we don't do that

Edit - I don't care for Pashtun culture of Afghanistan, least of my concerns I thaught he was talking about our people or it was related to our domestic issues in some ways
