Condemning the disastrous suicide bombing inside a Peshawar mosque, which claimed at least 100 lives and injured over 220 people, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stressed the need for national consensus just like the one reached for operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorism across the country.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday, he said the tragedy of the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar — which occurred on16th December 2014 claiming the lives of about 150 innocent students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the school — had not been forgotten yet as another incident of terrorism happened in the country.

“A successful war was fought against terrorism from 2010 to 2017,” the federal minister said, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led government, which was ruling the country, eliminated the menace of terrorism.

“Several APS-like incidents occurred in KP [Khyber Pakhtunkhwa],” Asif said, adding that the terrorism devoured numerous precious lives.
Referring to the banned terror organisations, the defence minister said that the house (lower house of parliament) was told around two years ago that “these people” could be negotiated but any conclusive decision could not be made on the matter. He came down hard on Imran Khan-led government for its instance of dialogue with the proscribed outfits.
Stressing the need for national unity, the minister said that "we sowed the seeds of terrorism ourselves".

Must triumph over terrorism
:
Reflecting that Pakistan should never have helped train the Mujahideen in the past, the interior minister said: “We prepared them and now they have become terrorists.”

He also apprised parliament that the prime minister, army chief and ISI DG would come to the house to brief parliamentarians and seek their assistance. “We must triumph in the war against terrorism.”

The state of terror incidents in the country paralleled the situation that existed a decade ago, he added. “Our policy must also be the same as the one we adopted 9 years ago after the APS attack.”

'Pakistan is alone in the war against terrorism'
“Our desire to be an instrument of superpowers is very old. Pakistan is alone in the war against terrorism,” the defence minister said.

Asif said while he is supportive of good relations with the United States, Pakistan shouldn’t fight the war at Washington's behest and in its interest.

Commenting on Afghanistan’s situation, he expressed the desire for the country to improve and stay peaceful, as "it will also reflect in Pakistan".

He added, “We want the betterment of Afghanistan. Peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan are interlinked.”

Following the Afghan war, the minister said, the Afghans who came to Pakistan and never left. “450,000 Afghans came to Pakistan in the last four years and did not return [to Afghanistan]."

At the same time, he added: “I can’t say how many of them are terrorists.”

Lamenting the state of security, he said the country has been witnessing bloodshed for the last several years

No division between Lahore and Peshawar'
Reacting to the comments of dissident PTI lawmaker Noor Alam Khan — who accused the forces of prejudice against the Pakhtoons —the security czar said that he understood and “surrendered” to the feelings of his fellow parliamentarian but “rejected” the accusations of prejudice levelled by him.

“There is no discrimination between Lahore and Peshawar,” he said, adding, “All of Pakistan has been victimised and every Pakistani is in mourning over the [Peshawar mosque] attack.”

Acknowledging that there had been an uptick in the number of attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), he said: “The KP police, army, FC and law enforcement agencies have been sacrificing their lives every day. Recently a police station in Bannu was made hostage."

However, he added, the perpetrators of "these attacks are the enemies of Pakistan".

In the past, Sanaullah said, there had been incidents of terrorism in Lahore which had claimed hundreds of lives.

“Our investigations have found that in 99% of the incidents, suicide bombers hailed from areas outside of Punjab, he said. “First, these attackers are brainwashed and then sent all over the country to incite terror"

TTA and TTP have different roots though.

The mujahideen goes way back, much before the TTP.

TTP leverages their ideology but is more of a criminal group that extorts money from locals, as said by General Tariq Khan.

Our government officials are clowns, they shouldn't even be in that position.

Don't get me wrong guys but time has come for 🇵🇰 to surrender it's WMD or else it may land into the hands of some anti social elements which may pose serious security challenges to the world. If 🇵🇰 gets it's nukes surrendered to UNSC, then it might help us to restore stability in S.Asia

TTA have nothing to do with Afghan MUJAHIDEEN. That title was used by the Resitance forces that fought USSR invasion. I dont know if its a new trend that Taliban are also called Mujahideen.
TTA was born in 1990s. TTA fought the Mujahideen Factions who were ruling different parts of Afghanistan after soviet withdrawal.
Ahmad Shah Masood, Gulbadeen Hikmatyaar, Burhan uddin Rabbani, Sibghatullah Mujadadi, Ismael Khan etc
These people fought the soviets.
Taliban never fought Soviets. They were not even a thing in 80s. They rose in 90s when there was no need for a Jihad(By our full support). And fought of the original mujahideen factions one by one.
Now People can add what ever conspiracies to this reality to morph a new version where somehow Taliban are Some sort of Islamic warriors.
Its funny how majority Of our people keep saying they defeated USSR even though they were formed in 1994, USSR collapsed in 1991 🤦

Anyways we reap what we sow. Army Elites should Enjoy the Revitalized TTP that was defeated by so much bloodshed of our soldiers , Police officers and civilians.

I remember once a friend said in days of Zarb e Azb after the operations of of Datta khel and Shawal Valley "What battle we are winning by giving our blood today will be lost by our ISI when they will start playing there dirty games again as they always do."

General Pakistani public have very short memory. They have forgotten how much sacrifice FC gave.
But again some Inglorious Idiots ruines it all by playing stupid games inside there closed doors, pretending to be ultra genius supremos, like they did in 71. Happy TTA government on western border. Now there is no excuse that Amrica/Israel/India is supporting TTP from Afghanistan.

Bro BTW our problems are one thing. But India will stabalize South Asia?.
Have you like ever lived or worked with other South Asians man?
Every South Asian Call your country "The Big Bully". Be it Sri Lankans, Bangladeshi, Nepalese. I am talking about people not media.
I was really surprised when i met Nepalese. I though they were close allies. But almost all of them were so irritated by you BSF behavior and Expansionist Attitude. Same with Bangladeshis even bigger surprise.

If India Start behaving like the Most powerfull Country of south Asia with responsibility, May be Pakistan will not even need to militarize so heavily.

Stop consuming too much media.

And please be honest. Now dont tell me you know all Nepali Bengali Srilankan People and they love India and Indian Government bla bla bla swear on whatever holy book you believe in before saying such stuff. Your BSF is a bully to weaker neighbors.

My personal belief is that you can never truly have a friendly government in Afghanistan, how can you take away the very essence of their belief and identity which is supposedly jihad against the dalkhors?

It is impossible and has always been like this. They could be friendly for a short while if relations are going good but never permanently. It is part of their culture to despise Pakistan, and dream about Loy Afghanistan.

Pakistanis are expecting too much, the Taliban in my view are simply a better option than an internationally recognised government like Ghanis. But of course still a pain in the ***.

A war, whether covert, or explicit, is inevitable with Afghanistan. And I don't know how many times it will take for them to lose to give up. Perhaps the only solution really is nuking them.

It is better if dalkhors grow some respect for themselves and honour, and decide to respond with aggression.

Remember people always respect power, especially those who look down on you, they will only respect you if you give them a reason to.

Yeah Bacha Baz Mujahideen. Please Stop using Word Jihad and Islam with Taliban and Afghan Militants.
Any ways Afghan behavior goes a long way and cannot be summarized in a single post. But Long story short, Stop supporting Religious groups.
Its Plain Logical, They have such strong grip on Minds of people they can make people do anything with no effort for there ultirior motives. They dont even need to give logic to their followers.

Its playing with fire on pile of gunpowder.

An Afghan Nationalist is 1000 times less dangerous then Afghan Mullah.
Even a Child can understand this. But not our Establishment. They Alienated whole western world to bring these Bafoons to power in Adghanistan.

I think the game plan here was two things:

1. They thought an Afghan mullah government would be more respectful of ISLAMIC Republic of Pakistan, compared to a secular nationalist.

2. The Afghan mullah government is now internationally isolated with no recognition or much support.

Ghani would have had countless $$$s of American weaponry. He was already supporting TTP and BLA. He would have had support from international community.

I will probably get slack for this but I still think Afghan Taliban was a better outcome overall, the lesser evil.

Yeah so lets just close our eyes and just assume there is no link between resurfacing of terrorism in Pakistan after almost 8 years and Taliban rise to power.
🤷‍♂️

There is, I'm not denying it.

But my point is that it would have happened regardless, because Afghanistan is Afghanistan.

We chose the lesser evil. It would have been worse under Ghani.
