British Painter William Carpenter's painting of Mirza Ghulam Fakhr-ud Din- the eldest surviving son of the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, at that time in February 1856.
He was a talented poet and historian. He died later that year probably from Cholera (poisoning?)

From Victoria and Albert Museum

Merewether Tower Karachi, it was constructed in 1886 at the intersection of M.A. Jinnah Road (Bunder Road ) and I.I. Chundrigar Road (McLeod Road). It was designed by James Strachan, and built in memory of Sir William Lockyer Merewether, the Commissioner of Karachi.

James Strachan designed many classic building of Karachi like Empress Market, Denso Hall, DJ Science College, Sindh Club, Victoria Museum ( now Supreme Court Karachi), Sindh Madressah, Edulji Dinshaw Dispensary in Saddar. This English architect-engineer was a humble servant of the city of Karachi and was wishful of bringing its development on the standards of London.
