The painting depicts Mirage IIIEP (S/N 67-112) of PAF No 5 Sqn, piloted by F/L Safdar, on a Combat Air Patrol, 5th December, 1971 (1500 hrs).

Moments later he, with his wingman, F/O Sohail Hameed, intercepted an Indian Hunter of No 20 Sqn, piloted by S/L Jal Mistry.

He fired a well aimed burst at the hunter, which started emitting thick black smoke. His wingman, sensing it could get away, finished it off by firing GAR-8 missile.. This kill was the first (or perhaps the only) joint kill of 1971 war.

The Wali Of Swat State, Miangul Sir Abdul Wadud, Was An Enthusiastic Supporter Of The PAF.

On 9 July 1949 The Wali Contributed (The Cost Of) A Hawker Fury Fighter For The Newly Independent Country's Air Force. To Commemorate The Occasion A Brand New Fury, In Its Distinctive Silver Livery Bore The Swati Crown Prince's Name.

Operational Requirements Later Forced Jahanzeb Also To Be Painted Over In The Camouflage Scheme Carried By The Other Furies.
