Arszawska, IBCOL presented on MSPO a manual Backscatter MINI-Z X-ray system created by Rapiscan Systems / AS & E from Billerica, Massachusetts. The scanner, as the Military Magazine MILMAG has learned, has been on the company's offer for exactly one week. Despite the weekly presence on the market, the presented MINI-Z has already been sold. The user has become one of the Polish customs services, and the ordering party is the Provincial Office.

MINI-Z is the most energy-intensive scanning system available on the global market.

MINI-Z is a lightweight and handy imaging scanner using technology called Z-Backscatter used, among others by Polish customs services in mobile ZBV X-ray systems. This system during movement while driving without stopping to inspect the tested vehicle allows detection of drugs, explosives and other illegal substances in the transported cargo or hidden in the vehicle structure.

Thanks to its small dimensions and the possibility of one-sided scanning, it is possible to scan places that can not be checked using other solutions using MINI-Z. The scanner allows for effective X-rays of elements such as car doors, lockers, wheels and car tires, luggage, packages, walls, furniture, boats, airplanes and interiors of various vehicles and other means of transport.

The scanner is equipped with appropriate elements to prevent accidental or unauthorized use.

In contrast to devices that measure density, trace amount detectors and high energy scanners, the MINI-Z is a handy scanner that instantly scans the scanned places and exposes the hidden load.

The device is equipped with a Polish graphic interface. The work of the scanner is safe for the environment. The MINI-Z can be used by customs, border authorities, responsible for protecting civil and government objects, control points at airports and ports, and VIP protection.

The price of the scanner launched on the market one week before MSPO 2018 will be fixed this week.

The source of X-ray radiation in the scanner is an X-ray tube with a power of 10 W and energy of 120 keV. Communication with the scanner takes place wirelessly using WiFi or an Ethernet cable. The detector itself is a small device with dimensions of 29.2 cm x 24.9 cm x 19.3 cm, and its mass is 5 kg.

The working time of the scanner on one battery is 4 hours, and the accompanying tablet - 6 hours. The set includes a spare power source. The speed of manual scanning is 15 cm / s. The software is MS Windows 10 IoT with the ASE Inspection system.

The system creates images that are easy to interpret in real time, which are much more readable than those obtained from floating X-ray systems.

Scanning can take place during rain and snow during strong winds up to 3000 m high at 0 ° C to 45 ° C. The scanner can be stored in unheated warehouses at temperatures between -40 ° C and 60 ° C.

The MINI-Z has been designed with safety in mind. The device does not pose a threat to both the operator and people in its surroundings. The manufacturer confirms the device's safety to meet the ANSI / HPS N43.3-2008 (American National Standards Institute / Health Physics Society), ANSI, ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection), NCRP (National Committee on Radiation Protection and Measurements) and Euratom standards absorbed annual radiation dose. The device does not contain natural radiation sources.

The scanner is protected against unauthorized emission of radiation by means of a system with interlock interlock . MINI-Z complies with the provisions of the Atomic Law and is authorized by the National Atomic Energy Agency ( DroneGun Tactical Certification , 2018-08-03).

The complete device consists of a MINI-Z scanner, a tablet with a reinforced casing with Windows 10IoT, ASEInspection software, two batteries for the scanner and charger, a calibration panel, user manual, a shoulder strap and an Ethernet cable for wired operation . All this is stored in a transport box measuring 63.5 cm x 49.5 cm x 38.1 cm and weighing 22.6 kg.
