ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain visited Radio Pakistan Islamabad today (Wednesday).

He was briefed about the working of the organization and its future plans of action.

The Minister was briefed by Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Shafqat Jalil about the budgetary issues and working of News and Current Affairs Channel, and Program and Engineering Wings.

The Minister was also briefed about the modernization plan of aging transmitters and replacing them with new digital transmitters to expand its coverage area.

The Information Minister said that Radio Pakistan should start an English Channel.

He further emphasized that the internet including Facebook, Youtube and Twitter should also be utilized for the contents of English Channel.

The Federal Minister said the government is considering a proposal to establish a Media University in Islamabad through merger of Academies of Radio Pakistan and PTV.

The Minister said that the media university will produce graduates in the fields of news, reporting, drama and other cultural areas.

He said the resources of PBC and PTV academies will be best utilized this way.

The Minister said a proposal is also under consideration for constitution of joint Board of Directors of PBC and PTV.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said PBC should start a Youtube TV channel.

During the briefing, Director General PBC Shafqat Jalil apprised the minister about the working of Radio Pakistan and problems faced by the organization.

He said Radio Pakistan is fully focused on providing information, education and entertainment to the masses across the country.

Earlier, on his arrival at the National Broadcasting House of Radio Pakistan in Islamabad, Director-General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Shafqat Jalil received the Minister.

The Minister went round different sections including National News Room, Social Media Desk, studios, and FM-94 Music Channel Dhanak.

The Minister appreciated that Radio Pakistan is playing its role responsibly.

The Director General assured the Minister that Radio Pakistan will soon initiate a new English Channel and web TV to expand its outreach across the country and globally.

Radio Pakistan is already live streaming its various news bulletins in both Urdu and English languages on its Facebook page.

These news bulletins are also being uploaded on YouTube.

Nice but how many going to understand? 10 or 20%...?

and these elites means educated … do listen radio these days....?

ooh come on.... buddy

Start radio stations in regional languages means in Urdu (already have), Punjabi, Seraiki, Pushto (must), Balochi (must)…..etc....

Excellent step. We urgently need both radio and TV channels to project our narrative and make our voice reach the world instead of relying on the western media.
