I thought that the Mirage aircraft that guided the munition went into Indian-controlled airspace. I guess I must have been wrong. But I do distinctly recall someone assert that PAF had air-superiority inside IOK for a while when all IAF assets had bugged out. There was no need to go into IoK. The standoff attack munitions have enough range to negate that need and PAF used that option quite effectively. The air superiority was maintained when the IAF fighters tried to challenge PAF and pursued close to or into Pakistani air space. The Pakistani response of shooting down two aircraft resulted in IAF deciding to not contest any further thereby giving PAF tactical air superiority.
