In my opinion, Karachi won't side with establishment touts as Rawalpindi is more interested in playing games here than actually solving grievances of Karachi.
Another important point to note: This journalist - Noor ul Arfeen is local Karachi dude - Urdu chap.
It is EXTREMELY RARE for Karachiite or Urdu wala to take such bold stance against Establishment. Usually Sindhi/Baloch media is considered hostile to Establishment.
What are you talking about? A local party which took votes in millions was using kill squads in Karachi. Another party which is in government had extortion gangs roaming the city and killing at will and what we have here is 'blame establishment'!
Whats going on in Karachi is the fault of the politicians not establishment. Politicians are not sincere in solving Karachi issues. The corrupt provincial govt plays spoiler in every project as it wants to pocket a certain percentage. Its because the ruling party has no stake in Karachi so its not interested in investing politically. The one which has political stake in the city, PTI, cant do anything as Karachi is a provincial capital.
Karachi is foremost a political issue, a result of political logjam. Before blaming establishment lazily for all faults, pull the provincial govt by its neck. 12 years of uninterrupted rule, of democracy is a very long time to not bring any reforms.
For 3 decades, MQM ruled the city through its terror. Each time, knowing fully well that MQM is a terrorist organization, people of Karachi overwhelmingly voted for it. Despite knowing fully well who was setting the city on fire, people of Karachi had a soft corner for MQM purely out of ethnic bias.
But blame establishment!
