I got in touch with some faculty in IST and I have the following to report:
IST did NOT sponsor the team in any way.
Only AFTER the project was shortlisted to be displayed in the event in Turkey did IST decide to sponsor. The air tickets that the students had paid for themselves obviously were only recently just refunded.

And then the parasite faculty member (who's face is being plastered by IST) latched on these students' private success. That parasite faculty member is a total hack who I have had personal horror stories with. Ufff so angry.

Depressing really.

So I don't even feel good tbh, this brain drain shit is as real as it gets
all the best and brightest will have to move abroad, serve already rich nations
while the homeland will be stuck in perpetual poverty
as the guys who are supposed to be leading the country into 21st century will have to go abroad
