China had in the past proposed to India to convert LAC as border but Indian government foolishly did not accept that offer. Now China is much more powerful than India and is asking for the entire area of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh to be given to China. In the same way, Pakistan is asking for Kashmir valley today but if India does not agree then there is a risk that Pakistan may claim the entire India in future.

Mistake is not admitting that they are being handed over their butt on a silver platter and keep on doing chest thumping for their local domestic consumption just so they can win in the next elections

The present government is like that farmer which burns his fields to make way for the new crop. Unfortunately, people and history are not stubs, and the fire cannot be contained within his fields

I do not know the full range of issues in Kashmir, but mistake was to not address and fix original grievances, such as rigged election and suppression of protests. You have to be prudent before accusing another country of involvement in a local problem because it gives that country leverage over you.

You sound like an intelligent guy, your current Modi is an complete nutter who will ruin India further by allying with the US and Zionist warmongers. I don't have to tell you that India has huge social, economic, sectarian and ethnic problems, not to mention worse poverty and income disparity at any time since its nominal "independence" from the Raj. The Congress and Nehru family had tried to steer India into a respectable secular non-aligned progressive policy framework, but the Hindu extremists and BJP now are creating havoc.

The PLA or even the Pakistani army that the Indians will face in the future is far different and capable that of the 60's and 70's. The world economic and power balance has totally changed. India perhaps has more people than China now, but most live in appalling poverty and getting into suicidal conflict for its western masters is plain moronic. India today has poor relations with all its neighbors from Bangladesh to China and is alienating even once neutral Muslim states like Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia etc with its Islamophobia and Hindu "supremacist" idiocy. The PLA in 2021 is 21st century military as their kit and equipment in Ladakh amply demonstrated. Indian soldiers have WW2 gear and tents while PLA has space age facilities and weaponry. The Chinese will wipe the floor with the Indian army in less than a week if Modi does not come to his senses. India needs to focus on its domestic issues like poverty, over-population and santitation and stop delusional western cannon fodder boot licking.

Here is an additional, not alternate perspective:

India's large population is generally good for the economy, but where it is also a liability is that it is very prone to manipulation for TRPs. Of all the things that Indians should be worried about, the biggest is not politics but the total capitulation of mainstream media to the ruling regime. Indians are used to shitty politics and slow pace of governance. It doesn't surprise us. But about 7-8 years ago it was still worthwhile to read the morning newspaper and watch the evening news. Media was constantly hauling governments over the coal and our life was full of news about scams and bad things. No one painted a rosy picture. Indeed, some felt that the media is too negative.

With technology and the ability to track audience engagement came the realisation that one doesn't need to show the correct picture, but the picture that sells. What was selling was what appealed to the lowest common denominator - bravado, fights, jingoism and exaggeration. Some channels held out to this trend but eventually realised that to survive they have to adapt. The (2nd) rise of BJP has coincided with this sell-out of media and dumbing down of audiences. They were ripe for the pickings. New channels funded by friendly business houses came up and poached anchors / journalists who were clearly not at ease with the pretence of neutrality in other media houses and wanted a full blown, unashamedly, unapologetically biased approach. This strategy worked remarkably well and in due time was supplemented by content from social media where again Indians are being put on a pedestal by everyone from Romania to Bolivia to Antarctic Penguins, simply because any content that has India in it is guaranteed to get you views by sheer force of numbers.

The government is fighting the battle of minds and for that it needs a lapdog media. Saying that we have made peace with all our neighbours is not newsworthy. If news starts looking happy and peaceful people will stop consuming it. Then how do you brainwash the people? It is important to keep them hooked and for that you need constant conflict.

Good to see that there are some Indians left with objective critical analysis skills and not conned by a demagogue like Modi. You well know that India as the leader of the non-aligned movement and a tolerant secular state along with Indonesia and Yugoslavia was a very well respected country with immense potential. Over-population in today's multipolar resources scarce world is a extreme burden. Iran is successful as it contained its population with a educational preventative family planning program, Mrs. Gandhi tried to the same but very aggressively in a country with an entrenched caste system and widespread illiteracy. I have been to some of India's more modern high tech cities like Hyderabad and Chennai, but even outside of them there is massive rural poverty and illiteracy. That is where India's priority should be. Spending money on useless weaponry when there is no real threat in the nuclear era is just insane. India's farming is now going down hill too as population pressures grow. These issues need serious solutions not Modi's insane extremism. Does anyone in their right mind think that they can treat 200 million Indian Muslims like Palestinians?

China did offered the proposal to India. China gets Aksai Chin. India gets South Tibet. I also wonder why India declined it. Indians are too optimistic for India's future.

One of the reasons why Nehru believed China would not attack India is, Indians believed building a road from China inland to Tibet would at least take 10 years. Turned out China finished it in 4 years. Which was a construction miracle in 1950's. Wasn't this case an alarm for Indians that showed how efficient and hardworking Chinese actually are? India underestimated China from very begining.
