One of the best indicators of development in a country is the "electricity generation". Iran's total electricity capacity currently stands at 85 GWatts (mostly gas powered plants). Iran is now tendering for 10GW of mostly solar and wind power just to catch up with the demand..

Iran’s SATBA tenders for 4,000 MW of solar power plants

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) of Iran says it has invited bids for the construction of 4,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power plants.
