If it only came in service by 2019, then we'll be waiting another decade for a 3,000 tonne boat unless North Korea arrives there first and does a technology transfer.

Man...they ought to boost the defence budget and allocate funds properly AND ensure they're used wisely.

I have said it many times but I repeat myself..Iran is one of the few countries that not only has to design and build the main weapon system (in this case the sub)..but because of sanctions the country has to build all the subsystems that go into a weapon system.. Other countries buy all the subsystems from all around the world..so Iran has to build propulsion, sonar,priscops,torpedos,batteries,propellers...shafts,and the list goes on and on..

On top of that in Iran there is a requirement that each ship has to be more advanced than the previous ship..so our next Fateh will have AIP propulsion..

I would be quite happy if the next fateh takes 4 years.

  • Type: "midget" sub of the "Yono" class
  • Displacement: 125 tons submerged
  • Length: 29 m
  • Hull diameter: 2.7 m
  • Speed: 11 kt
  • Operating Depth: xx m
  • Endurance: 1000 km
  • Powerplant: BLDC diesel-electric
  • Sensors: Sonar
  • Armament: 2 x 533mm (21") torpedo tubes. Sea mines and mission specific armaments
  • Crew: 8 to 12
  • Reported numbers deployed: 21 to 34
  • In service: Iranian navy since 2007

When the Loghman-class destroyer and Besat-class submarine are finally launched, I hope they play this song on the maiden fleet voyage:

(US Navy: Alert! Get the President on the line! We have a new Cuban missile crisis incoming 😰)

be'ethat maybe in next 10 years , loghman when they built another two ship based on moudge design
sadly the one they were building in Bandar Anzali met some accident so it take probably more time .
SrpaVbD5j4pOAK~noop.image

or perhaps its not that important. Loqman was always supposed to be built in south of Iran. for Makran sea and Indian ocean fleet. perhaps after they finished building Taftan in Bandar Abbas , they will start to build loqman

Talayieh has been refloated and so far as I know, the damage was relatively minor.

even a minor damage , put a project back for some month .
here the question was not that if it afloat again or the damage repairable . after all it happened in dry dock . but rapairing the damage will take time if they want it don't become weak in those areas . they can change the plates there . or they can try fix it by welding some plate over the damaged area . (if they do that the ship will spend half its life at docks being fixed)

I assume a six month delay at most. Truthfully, that's not too bad but the accident was avoidable, it seems.

Iran's "MOUDGE" Class Frigates
"Moudge" class warship is Iran's first serious attempt to design, and serial build a light Frigate. The first steel was cut on Iran's Moudge (wave) class Frigates in 2001. The first ship was launched 6 years later and formally commissioned in 2010.

Within a span of 11 years Iran has build and commissioned 4 ships of the class.

JAMARAN-76 ............2010
DAMAVAND-77.........2015
SAHAND-74...............2018
DENA-75.....................2021

Although the propulsion, sensors and weapons suite in each ship have some difference the general specifications apply to all of them.

Three of the ships are in the southern fleet in the Persian Gulf and one ship "Damavand" serves the northern fleet in the Caspian sea
(Damavand was severely damaged in an accident and is being rebuilt)
