TEHRAN ($1=42,300.00 Iranian Rials) — Iran has officially announced its intentions to purchase Russian fighter jets. Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force [IRIAF] commander Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi has officially announced that Iran will purchase 24 Su-35 fighter jets from Russia. This is what the Turkish online portal sammunasanayist.com writes in its Sunday edition.

Commander of Army Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran General Vahedi in an interview with Borna News said that the Iranian Air Force has no plans to buy Sukhoi Su-30 for the time being but the purchase of Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets from Russia is on the agenda.

Vahedi also emphasized that the final decision on the purchase of the Sukhoi Su-350 fighter jets from Russia rests with the Army Command and the Armed Forces General Staff Command.

UAE Saudi Arabia Israel Turkey Qatar have technology and aircrafts edge (Rafales, F-16, F-15, F-18, Eurofighter, F-35, MIG-29M/M2 etc...). Iran must buy dozens of MIG-29 SU-35 to become really an airforce power in the region. That's why Iran doesn't rely on aircrafts but more on building thousands of drones and ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. Ans they know if they engage with any middle eastern air force they will likely to lose. So they are produce weapons to counter their air inferiority.
