Sikkim ? You mean it wasn't something New Delhi planned out and saw through from the very beginning. 🥴
Delhi had active interest due to security reasons that Sikkim merge with India. However, without local Sikkimise desire, the merger would have been impossible. India conducted a referendum in Sikkim in '75 and over 99% supported merger with India. And we havent heard any complaints from them since. It is one of the most developed states in India.

That says it all, no ?

Of course, even If they wanted to they couldn't fight back, just as well that they're happy now as they must have accepted their fate.

But now in 2021, this stunt cannot be possibly pulled off..

Nepal has a huge population and they don't exactly like India.. idk about Bhutan, it's already an Indian province.

yup. And BD or any other nation did not complain. So I guess that was completely fine.

Anything that will be perceived as Indian expansionism will send alarm bells ringing in the region..

When will Indians realise they need friends and not white ones. You guys are hurting your own cause with everything you do.

But where is the Indian expansionism. Did we ever ask BD to be part of India or demanded land from BD?
I get it that you are surrounded by India from 3 sides and are a smaller nation, and were part of India, so you may feel that it is an obvious Indian agenda to turn back the clock. But we do not want to force ourselves on an unwilling partner. (Pun not intended)

No, I'm talking about akhand Bharat that Indian politicians bleet about.. and you mentioned Nepal and Bhutan..

Even If either really did want to merge with India, the consequence this would have for India's image in the region would be grave and irreversible.

India would stand to become the pariah of the region, even more than it already has.

Did the politicians ever say anything about forceful takeover ?

Thats your thinking may be, but I dont get why the world should be worried if 2 nations willingly merge. Its like 'Jab miya biwi raazi, to kya karega kaazi'

Perhaps, I do not of this expressly but even so they have not been above opining that parts of Bangladesh should be taken over and I can post source here.. this was from an important BJP leader btw.

So why does it show you when we put two and two together ? Akhand Bharat as the end goal and aggressive words/political maneuvering, surely you can try and see what we're thinking here..

India and BD have a history of resolving conflicts peacefully. There is no need to call for military action. I am sure both parties would submit to arbitration and get it resolved.
And they have a long history of shooting each other.
. If nation states want to join India willingly, we may consider it.
Yeah I don’t see any nations giving up their freedom to join india out of all places

What I see is the long history of BSF shooting illegal border crossers and sometimes upsetting BD due to it. But I also see BD helping to root out anti-Indian militants on BD soil.

Akhand Bharat is more like winning over hearts and minds to reunite the subcontinent. Whats the harm in having such an end goal in mind.

Only within territorial waters of a nation, other nations' need ask permission. The territorial waters are within a few nautical miles of the coastline. What we are discussing here is probably the exclusive economic zone where each country claims the right over resources. However, that cannot stop 3rd country say BD to pass its trade vessels.
Your Indian ships are planning to cross over to Sittwe port in Myanmar from Kolkata Haldia port using our maritime territory. From Sittwe it will use Myanmarese roads to connect with Imphal etc. and other points in Indian NE.

Does that mean a usage of our waters and thereby marine transshipment surcharges?

I am surprised no one in Bangladesh is looking at this, or at least keeping mum...

It was a massive mistake by then Muslim League (at the time of partition) not to claim Andaman for East Pakistan. Most settlers in Andaman were Bengalis, and it is true still today (though mostly Hindus nowadays).

Such shoot-to-kill action is practiced nowhere else in the world except India-Bangladesh Border. Often times it is not even border crossing, it is just border dwellers straying over unintentionally. BSF is just acting like a terrorist entity.

It is a low life cowardly practice goaded on and openly supported by Hindutva Fascists in India. If you see people cross illegally, you are supposed to jail them and deport them. Only Indian BSF which is a low-life cowardly force does this shoot-to-kill action.

Be aware though, that there will be illegal border crossers from India too, time is coming. And they will get shot and killed, BSF has already set the precedent and legitimacy. Hasina's time for India sycophancy is almost over.

I have suggested before that we arm the border dwellers on Bangladesh side and that idea is IMHO still a valid one, or place Village Answars in heavy traffic border points. Bangladesh govt. will just look the other way and we will see Indians crying about it then. Let BSF deal with that when the time comes.

Hang on a second..

What do you mean 'reunite' ?

When we're we ever parts of a larger whole ?

Our people are too backward to live together..

India itself has barely been able to keep ethnic tensions under control not to mention religious ones... And you're here wanting a repeat do '47.

We in Bangladesh are happy with our ethnostate, we've avoided much trouble due to the very make-up of our demographic.

Bhutanese are firmly anti-Indian in posture, just like Nepalese. Indians know this as I have seen this mentioned in several Indian policy documents.

Listen to this Hindutva whisperer, as if Bangladesh would have been in our current position today, being a part of India.

Chanakya North Indian Hindutva cow-belters would suck us dry (just like they are trying now at 50%, but at 100%), and just like they have completely exploited Assam (petroleum), West Bengal and are trying to exploit Southern States too (but can't). Thank Allah we are a sovereign nation not beholden to Indian mismanagement and garbage policies. At least we can decide on our own future and growth trajectory and easily best India's records, which we already have.

East Bengal was always a prosperous part of India (due to agricultural assets and hard work) and produced the majority of GDP even for Mughal India - starting in 1300 AD. It is only due to other entities like West Bengal baboos under the British exploiting us that we temporarily fell on hard times. Kolkata wasn't even anywhere on the map before the British arrived.

The dadas got lucky with Kolkata..

Without that city, WB would be nowhere today.

Apart from Kolkata, rest of WB is a dump, poor place is being sucked dry to please marwaris..

I don't understand how our brethren can take such insult sitting down (tamed ?).. I couldn't, If it came to Dhaka and If it was Chittagong, I'd be furious.

Bengal is for Bengalis, not those who mock our culture and language (cow belt types and especially Biharis) but then run their households with Bengali money.
