Abey idiot, there is a directive principles in the constitution that says cow slaughter is not allowed in this country. It is put there by constitution makers. Also eating beef is not the objection but slaughter of cows is. You can import beef if you want to eat it. How can you be this dumb?
I know that moron.
I asked why is cow slaughter banned and why is it in the constitution ?
Why cows? Why not buffaloes, Yaks, Mithuns, and camels? All draft and milch animals.
For your education: Possession of beef is also a crime in quite a few parts of India punishable by up to 12 years in prison (if you first escape the lynching after your freezer is checked :taz:).
Not that it really matters:
Irrational laws like Prohibition and suppression of flesh trade are difficult to enforce when there is an economic motive behind it. People will booze, they will go to the fleshpots and they will slaughter cows and bulls and eat them when they are hungry.
Commercial airlines from all over the world will land in Delhi and Ahmedabad carrying pre-packaged beef stew offered to passengers inflight and 5-star hotels and resorts in India will serve Beef dishes in their menu ( under the guise of Cara-Beef). The "white " tourists bringing in the $$$$ love it.
It is only the poor Dalit skinning a dead feral cow killed by truck who will get lynched as will anyone else whose home is invaded and whose freezer is raided.
Meanwhile India is the region's largest exporter of "beef" . No DNA tests are done if its "Buffalo beef" or cow beef. A smile and wink and a fat wad of notes works wonders with the meat and customs inspectors.

What do you mean why? It is because India is a Hindu majoritarian country and cow is revered in Hinduism as mother. The constitutional makers didn't need to think of muslim sentiments for eating those cows. India is secular because of Hinduism. It is not secular to accommodate Islam. Like I said, during the discussion on constitution it is the Hindu scripture that is quoted not some other book. Now shut up and stay where you are and do not indulge yourself into Indian affairs.

You are that @Shantanu_Left moron, aren't you?

Then why doesn't your effing constitution SAY the cow is sacred. It doesn't.
The restriction Art 48 ( milch and draft only) is in the "Animal Husbandry and Agriculture " which is intended to protect milch and draft cattle.
It leaves out buffaloes, mithuns, camels and Yaks. Which by the way the Nepalese being devout Hindus themselves slaughter by the thousands.
Next Question:
Are only Indian cows sacred?
Why doesn't India fight for the rights of cows globally?
Why are cows slaughtered in Goa, an RSS run state?
