An Indian national was killed by Indian border guard BSF firing while illegally entering Bangladesh and returning to his home country on the same quay. The incident took place at around 8am on Friday (December 8th) at the Alga border of Sahib in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram. The Indian citizen was shot dead near the International Pillar 12 (2S) in the loose border out post (BOP) area of Sahib. Lieutenant Colonel SM Azad, commander of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 3 Battalion confirmed the information.

Locals believe the deceased came to Bangladesh illegally along the border on cattle trading issues. Later on returning to India on the same route, BSF shot him as Bangladeshi.

Meanwhile, members of the loose BOP of the BGB-4 Battalion went to the spot and called for a flag meeting with the BSF. It is reported that preparations for the flag meeting between the BGB and BSF are underway until the last news.

Lt. Col. SM Azad, commander of the BGB-4 Battalion, said: "We have learned that the victim was an Indian citizen. He was shot dead near the fork in the Indian part of the field about a hundred and a half yards from the Zero Line. We are planning to hold a meeting with the BSF on the matter.
