I think the government gave up on high speed trains and are following the US model. Poor and short term thinking imo as high speed rail will provide much more benefits in the long run although initial investment is high.

Its not about either railways or air. Its both. Rail, road, air...all infra are being upgraded.

For distance less than 1,000 km, Railways is a good option.

For distance greater than 1,000 km, Airlines is a better option.

Less than 400 roadways is a good option.

It's high time NAL/HAL gets Saras Mk-2 airborne to cover underserved airports.

That is a wasteful project and a Vanity project for ADA. They want to keep themselves "busy" on public funds.

Saras Mk-2 will have the same seating capacity as a Dornier 228.

In fact Dornier will have greater endurance than Saras.

Truth is that in the open market there are already plenty of small capacity aircrafts available for ToT due to constricted market space.
