Salaam..... India tests locally developed laser-guided bombs By Doug Richardson 29 June 2010 India tests locally developed laser-guided bombs The Aeronautical Development Establishment, part of India's Defence Research and Development Organisation, has successfully conducted user trials of newly developed laser guided bombs. Conducted at the Pokhran test range with Indian Air Force (IAF) participation, the tests demonstrated the accuracy, reliability and performance of the new bombs, the Indian Ministry of Defence announced on 9 June. The trials occurred after extensive simulation, design validation, ground experiments and series of flight trials. Tests of the guidance and control systems of laser-guided bombs at the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, Orissa, were reported in January 2010. According to an Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) statement, a number of 'high-tech' components were developed by India for use in the new guidance kit. The IAF is expected to upgrade a large number of its unguided bombs into 'smart' variants using the new hardware.
