Bhubaneswar: India on Thursday successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile, with a range of over 3,000 km, from a base in Odisha, an official said.

The surface-to-surface missile was fired from a launch complex at the Inner Wheeler Island off the coast of Dhamra in Bhadrak district, about 200 km from here.

"It was a user trial. The test was successful," test range director MVKV Prasad told a news agency.

Agni-III is capable of carrying warheads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes. It is 16 metres in length and weighs 48 tonnes. The missile has a two-stage solid propellant system. It can re-enter the atmosphere at a very high velocity.

Agni-III is a rail mobile system capable missile and can be launched from anywhere in India.

Agni-III missile test-fired successfully by SFC off Odisha coast - The Hindu

India on Thursday successfully test-fired nuclear weapons-capable Agni-III ballistic missile from the Wheeler Island off Odisha coast. Although the missile has a strike range of more than 3,000 k.m., it was tested for a lesser range, in today's mission.

The suface to surface missile was launched by the personnel of Strategic Forces Command (SFC) at 9.52 a.m. from a mobile launcher as part of regular training exercise for the user.

It was picked up randomly from the production lot and test fired. The SFC is tasked with handling strategic weaons systems. After the command for auto-lanuch was given, the two-stage solid-propelled missile took off on a flight of 1,200 seconds and homed onto the pre-designated target area in the bay of bengal with accuracy. Defence Research and Development Organisation sources told The Hindu that it met all the mission objectives.

Various parameters and trajectory of the 17-meter tall missile were tracked and monitored in real time by radars along the east coast, as also by the telemetry and electro-optical systems. Two down-range ships near the impact point recorded the terminal event.

Agni-III is one of the sophisticated and accurate missiles of its class and has already been inducted into armed forces. It is capable of carrying a payload weighing 1.5 tonnes to a distance of more than 3,000 k.m.

we don't need anyone's trust we are leaving the old INDIAN mentallity of pleasing the master however you can and thus we are recovering day by day and economy on the way of stability and internal conflicts on the edge of extinction so yes we had such mentallity in the past but we are changing and the world will see soon enough as america just saw trouble seeing our relationship blooming with china and russia and bribed us with a billion dollar gift :D :P

well if you know asi had already said who has what realations with whome we dont care

what we care is how we canget a better deal for owr selfs and for that we have to keep doing owr ground work that too with full dedication honesty and in right direction and that too consistantlly owr state poilcy is still NAM 8-)

as unlike your nation we dont have any "friends not masters, all weather friends or brotherli nations" which will give us free wepons, oil or whatever in return of fighting like mercenaries for them as we belve in hard work and making moeny than selling owr people and nation :azn:

so we have to work and do long and short term planning to get the job done no hard feelings towards any nation:cheers:

first having brotherly relations is not a bad thing secondly nothing is for free right we pay for everything just on easy terms and condition cuz we suffered from sanctions and 2 deacdes of war so yes we are in a bad shape after that but as i said and the international community is saying we are on the way of stabillizing our economy and last the so called Pakistani masters are now working hard to keep pakistan on their side of the world and 3rd about mercenaries well we all saw that in recent events between PAK and GCC right ???? :) :P

well im sorry to go off topic (sorry mods) but what are you doing to get your economy back on track are you going to abolish feudal system and do land reforms or are you going to collect tax from all the rich people who are into money laundring and doing tax evasions and how are you going to acclarate your manufactring sector and finish the current energy crisis

cause withowt doing all of said above and more you cant create a better economy just by getting free oil and remitennces from your expacts

now we are talking about Agni 3 missile personalli i find it to bulky and large to hide and tranport withowt getting noticed il anyday put my money on compact and more smart wepon system like LRCMs and ALCMs (with a range of 1 -2 K NM ) than ballistick missiles(with a range of 5 KKM)
