Former Judge, Supreme Court of India Markandey Katju said that Aman ki Asha is living in a fool’s paradise and deceiving people. The campaign launched jointly by two large media houses, the Jang Group of Pakistan and the Times of India Group of India aims at improving relations between India and Pakistan, and help secure peace in the region. It runs a portal amankiasha.com. Former judge twitted, ‘Aman ki Asha is living in a fool’s paradise and deceiving people.’

In his article written for Pakistani Stories, Katju writes, “While ostensibly its (Aman ki Asha) aim seems laudable, and indeed it has done some good work by promoting some people to people contact between Indians and Pakistanis, which helps to some extent in dispelling the notion that people living on the other side of the border are devils, nevertheless, in my opinion, its basic approach is flawed, and in fact it serves to deceive people.”

He said “India and Pakistan (and Bangladesh) are really one country, sharing the same culture, and were one since Mughal times. Partition in 1947 was a historical British swindle, on the basis of the bogus two nation theory ( that Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations ), which was the culmination of the nefarious British divide and rule policy of making Hindus and Muslims fight each other.” He added, “Pakistan is a fake, artificial country.”

Stressing the need to reunite India and Pakistan, Katju asserted, “It is really part of India, only temporarily separated, but is bound to be reunited with it, like West and East Germany or North and South Vietnam (though that will take time because those who divided us will not let us easily reunite.)

every body can wish and also have a right to express it.

but a wish is still ones personal affair cannot be imposed on millions of people and i am not talking about millions on this side of the border but the other side as well.

and level of sanity is another issue to address ...

The ethnic groups that make up the majority of Pakistan have a less than 5% representation among Indians. The same could probably be said for Bangladesh.

Not only that, but Pakistanis write in a Perso-Arabic script which Indians can't read, a lot of us speak languages Indians can't understand (e.g Pashto, Balochi and Hazaragi), we have far higher amounts of Eurasian ancestry, many Pakistani tribes/clans aren't present among Indians (Awans, Arains, Syeds, Ansaris, Qureshis, Bara, Mughals, etc) or exist in very small numbers (e.g Janjua, Waraich), we follow a different religion, our women wear more modest clothing, etc.

It's not bogus at all. Muslims and Hindus are completely different from one another for various reasons. Muslims can't and won't drink/eat from the same utensils as Hindus, we can't and won't marry Hindus, we have different heroes to Hindus, we have a different physical appearance to Hindus (skull caps, long beards, headscarves, no bindi, no sari, etc), we have a different diet to Hindus (we eat far more meat, especially beef), we pray in Arabic, we keep Persian, Arabic and Turkic names, we tend to write in a Perso-Arabic script, we heavily frown upon idolatry, etc. Not only that, but for most of history Muslims and Hindus just haven't gotten along. This is still the case today. Sure, there are some exceptions, but they're just that, exceptions, not the rule. If you don't believe me, go and ask a Muslim from India whether he is Muslim or Indian first. I can guarantee that most of them will say they're Muslim first, as is the case with Pakistanis and plenty of other Muslims:

The fact that Muslims are so different to other communities from what was British India as well as the fact that people from the Indus are also as a whole distinct from the rest of what was British India makes Pakistan's partition perfectly legitimate.

Germany and Vietnam were ethnically culturally and religiously homogenous.

Which is not the case even with the British east Indian union composed of God knows home many ethnicities- - - - - - - - -.

Its like asking the whole of Europe to form a single country.

Good idea. Call the Queen, beg her to send redcoats and let Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan get 'reunited' under the British Raj banner again. Can we have Prince Charles as our Viceroy please?

Why is Mr. Katju saying that 'Aman ki asha' is a flawed idea ??

But he is right about India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to reunite.

We were never really "united" so the question of "reunification" is an oxymoron.

You won't eat from my plate neither i from yours.

LOL if Pakistan and Bangladesh "reunite" India's Muslim % of the total population will skyrocket.
    Delusional thinking.
