The US automatically denied permission - no PAF pilots were allowed on Turkish Vipers. They might have ended up on the basic training side.

Always heard rumors that the Turks found a loophole by giving the pilots temporary citizenship or something of the sort, but it's never been confirmed.

Saddam at the time had the strongest Arab army, no other Arab army came even close, but his army wasn't a match for Pakistan.
