Rajapaksas had full majority but they were kicked out of power and the country using mob power and then IMF signed the contract with an unelected government in Sri Lanka.
IMF's problem with Pakistan is not just a question of political strength of current government but a historical record of deception. Pakistan is probably the most unique country in being able to engage in self-deception to an absurd degree. In any other country, when the nation is on imminent financial collapse, if the finance minister spends his time thumbing through his scripture to agonize over what verse to post on his Twitter today, he would be removed from his position and admitted to a mental institution. In Pakistan, he gets celebrated as a man of faith pleading with God for intercession with great devotion.

No PTI approval no funds. Because PDM has no democratic status to sign these IMF loan documents. And IMF wants PTI written approval as the one and only opposition party.

Its more than just PTI, it means that whoever comes next time wont be able to give up or even deviate from the program without serious consequences.

Basically they want surety from state irrespective of what party you belong too. Don't jump too much about it.

So that means no loan for Pakistani awam. PTI would rather watch their country burn than to be on a discussion table to settle for a amicable solution.
why do Indians fear Imran Khan so much? loool. cut your propaganda bs - PTI is the only party trying to save Pakistan after the disastrous regime change op when Pak was +6% growth now to bankrupt levels where the IMF before parting with a couple of billion $$$ needs the guarantee of the main party to carry out their program when/if it returns to the assemblies. Foe IMF it makes sense but PTI may not be able to sign without seeing the T&Cs etc and how the money will spend because the current cabal which India prefers as it has done to Pakistan what India could not do in 50 years.

Our army has a lot to answer for, continuing this facade against the will of the people is mutiny - it is illegal and immoral, the army has been exposed badly but the low quality cadre that have formed the core around Bajwa's munshi so called COAS are controlling the issues - and would rather burn Pakistan than let anything happen to the billions in land grabs and stolen money parked abroad, Traitors the lot of them.

The reason for this step is NOT because the present government has "no democratic status". IMF is discussing the plan with it, after all. The goals here is to ensure continuity of what is agreed upon, with opposition parties (not just one party), since the tenure of the present government is only a short one until the next elections as stipulated under the Constitution. Perfectly logical.

Haha well he seems to be having, the time of his life.
Seriously though on topic, it's time for the leadership in Pakistan to come on one page.

What is happening, is not good for the common people. People at the lower levels of economy, will be the hardest hit. Sadly nobody thinks of them, with all the vested interests at various levels. But then, it's how it goes in this world anywhere. Who gives a damn about the weak.
