Yeah ofcourse but captive flight hours matters

Regardless the heavier pl15 will outrange meteor and the two heaviest spenders on defense WILL NOT DEVELOP ramjet BVRs

There is no fast option
Even f16 ordered today will take 3-4 years

The only two available options are f16& j10 with j31 as a future option
I dont see j10 beig ordered given thunder is the focus while f16 has other issues mainly the release of sensitive weapons
Only way J-10 will serve is the war of today. We aren’t there, not yet. And i am sure if the situation arises, J-10s will come in numbers immediately. Block 3 is intended to fulfill the J-10 capabilities locally. The only problem is production delays and even then, the production rate annually won’t be much fulfilling. You are right. F-16s deliveries and Upgrades aren’t immediate things, contracts will take 5-6 years least, given the number of orders by around 6 countries, we won’t be in a position to recieve any by late 2022, 2023

Best thing PAF can do is intense lobbying for used f16 waiver from pompeo and pl 15 from china along with enauring thunder doesnt lag behind in production ..may be even pushing the rate a bit higher

For rafale 1:1 ..PAF would need either f16b70 or j31 both wont come before 2023-24

Rafale 1:1 would be determined by the best BVR capable fighter, which in our case won’t be F-16 B70, J-10C or even J-20.
Radar matters and the BVR missile and we have Block 3 which is the best suiting our needs. You can wish for Block 70, but can you get AIM-120D ? Definitely not !!!

Block 70 F-16 would be a sitting duck in front of Meteor and AIM-120C5 which we use.

Even if you talk about J-20 or J-31 or even J-10, none of them provides an EVEN mightier AAM than PL-15 at the moment, which our thunders can also use. So best bet is Block 3.

Kudos to Thunder Program Managers and Planners, how far sighted game they played and luck was with them as well. Thunder is a blessing.

If you want something even better than that, J-20 or SU-35 (with J-20 Radar and avionics and AAMs package) is the way to go.

Will take another 5 years..
That boat was missed in 2013-2014 when block 3 was around the cotber

Aim120d will go out of production and be replaced by aim 260 in 2023 so can we get aim120d ..yes it would similar to aim120c deal
Will we get aim120 or new f16s probably not..as neither we or americans are a desparate as we were in 2006

Around 160km. PL 15 is said to be around 200km
Missiles are as good as only as the Radar. If the Radar has an capabilities to look at 250km away then it can lock at 200km. I don't think the any fighter bar the MKI Bars radar has that range in the subcontinent. But sadly during the standoff MKI didn't have an missile to match it's radar range.
So I don't think Pakistan has PL 15 in their arsenal.
