Huawei dares to go on and on: After the Huawei Mate 30 Pro has recently been sold directly in Spain, it is now also in Switzerland. The new flagship smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer will be available from early December without Google products officially in the Swiss trade. In cooperation with the dealer Digitec, Huawei is launching the Mate 30 Pro officially in Switzerland. The current top smartphone will go on sale from 4 December, before then starting on December 10, 2019, the sales officially. Basically, then no Google services or apps will be preinstalled, they say.

Mate 30 Pro - First impressions of the new Huawei flagship

Due to the "existing restrictions from the US", so Huawei on an information page, you will not offer the Google Mobile Services on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Instead, they use Huawei Mobile Services, an alternative platform that includes Huawei's own AppGallery store, which allows customers to install apps on their Mate 30 Pro.

Buyers need to use alternative app stores
At the same time Huawei also points out that some apps will not be fully usable as usual due to the lack of GMS support. In addition, interested customers need to keep in mind that the AppGallery contains only about 45,000 apps so far, so does not offer the same huge selection, as the Google Play Store, which offers well over two million apps. Alternatively, you can use app stores like UpToDown to get a wider choice.

Technically, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro in the version announced in Switzerland corresponds to the one that is also sold elsewhere as a basic model. It is therefore the variant with eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of internal UFS memory, which is offered exclusively in the color "Space Silver". Other color variants are apparently not planned.

In Switzerland, Digitec requires exactly 1099 francs for the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, which equates to just under 1,000 euros. For this, the customer gets a high-end smartphone equipped with top hardware with the new Kirin 990 Octacore SoC, a total of four cameras on the back, including two 40-megapixel sensors and a "Waterfall" display called the 6.53 Inch display with a recess at the top for laser-based facial recognition sensors.

45,000 apps I'm impressed. As long as it has Watsapp, Facebook, Twitter, youtube, Instagram, TikTok and few games it should be a hit! No one needs a 1000 different apps that make a farting sound.

This is my personal opinion: I think Google is about to be finished in the 5G era. 5G is about internet of things. The relationship between phones and other devices, such as appliances, and even cars, is about to fundamentally change. Smart phones as we know today will assume a very different role.

Google, for all its worth, has been very slow to adapt to the new progress. Android is still bloated and heavy, and it is not really designed to take advantage of the inter-connectivity. What is the use of Google services like Gmail, or Google Map, Google Play, when you cannot use them seamlessly on devices other than smart phones?

Huawei's Harmoney OS is different from Android because it is optimized for inter connectivity. It focuses on distributed and yet connected nodes when multiple devices are present, so everything can work in sync. I am not saying that Huawei will definitely be the winner, but as far as things are going today, my money is on the new comer.

With super fast 5G, there maybe even no need to pre install software. Just go online to a website and you can play games, access millions online apps or whatever by just running thru website application.

In this way, Google play store may be extra in future.
